Ed Schultz is trying to make sense of today's ANWAR vote
says Landrieu comes from an oil state, and this may be her rationale.

He's not defending her, however.

Tune in:

1. I'd like to hear Mary Landrieu defend her vote
Hope he gets her on the show and asks some hard questions.

4. I think Ed stated what her defense will be.
And, being from Louisiana, its actually a reasonable defense from the state's perspective (I don't agree with it though). I don't think it really hurts her in the state when it all shakes out.

2. What does he say about the 2 Hawaii senators votes?
I'm so curious as to why both senators for Hawaii voted for drilling in ANWR, it just doesn't make sense to me. Does he offer any insight?

5. Hawaii
Maybe they just thought their constituents
didn't like $3 gas?

12. We were paying $2.00 a gallon years ago
while the mainland was paying reasonable prices.

Now, we pay a lot more.

But it's more than an oil thing. Hawaii & Alaska are allies to the extent that they help each other out. Stephens has always backed Hawaii's interests, & that's reciprocated by Inouye.

6. What I've heard...they defer to the Alaska senators, it's a HI thing.
I don't give a rats ass about that. AMERICA first, lousy senator loyalty LAST.

10. I believe it was just Akaka who voted for it in the end...Inouye caved.
At least that's what I saw posted here.

8. A Pox On All Who Voted "Yea"
How would they like it if some one dumped a smelly, gooey substance on their gardens?

If there is a God who cares he must be weeping now.

9. Gas
Gas prices in Hawaii have always been high, since it is such a hassle to transport it there. Quite a long voyage without pipe lines, semi-rigs cruising on interstate high-ways, train transport... By voting for the drilling they cut a deal with the oil companies for lower bulk gas in Hawaii.

13. ..
His credibility as a liberal talk show host was on the line, since this has been a benchmark issue in the senate for so long. Had he fully supported the drilling he would have lost listeners. I don't think he fully opposed til yesterday, when he had Reid on his show.

what ANWAR is.

He's better on some issues than others.

I like the way he attacks Bush more than, I think, any other leftist talker. Plus he's funny.

21. We can't exactly be picky about who's on our side.
I give him loads of credit for questioning the "conventional wisdom" about the amount of oil up there. He made it clear that he thought the estimates from the pro_drilling types were exaggerated.
