7. I used to live in Alaska - it's the most breathtaking place on earth
If they do this, it will be one of the most heinous environmental crimes ever committed. And for what?? They don't even care that drilling there won't even come close to solving the energy problem. But hey, as long as the Republican oil whores can make a few more bucks, what's a little ecosystem decimation among friends, right? Disgust doesn't even begin to describe how this makes me feel.

What else can it be. It's so disgusted. If I could afford to move I'd pack up the pets and head for anywhere but here! Fed-up. America is lost.

I suspect a poster in another thread is right, though, in that Frist would have pressed McCain had the votes to pass the amendment been there.

66. McCain has voted twice now to oppose drilling in ANWR.
Last time this came up he opposed drilling, and John Kyl, the other AZ Senator, voted for drilling. McCain supports conservation measures. I wonder how much grief the other repubs give him.

55. Evidently we had 6 Republicans* vote against drilling in ANWR, but they
were cancelled out by the three Democrats who voted for drilling--Inouye, Akaka and Landrieu. An inexcusable vote with the opposition and against the interests, not only of their party, but of the nation and the world.

*Jeffords, an Independent, also voted against drilling in ANWR.

Between this and the news that Mt. Kilimanjaro has lost it's snow cap for the first time in 10,000 years, I just feel hopeless.

May the coming global disaster take the good people quickly and mercifully and single out BushCo and their supporters for a long, drawn-out and painful demise. If there is a hell, may they all end up in the deepest pits of it.

But i think this is one of those issues that motivate left wingers and the rest of the country is indifferent about.

It's a good way to motivate our side but we shoudln't waste many resources on this as a stategic move. There are better targets.
