Bush Said "There's No Oxygen In The Room" During Press Conference?
Edited on Wed Mar-16-05 11:26 AM by cryingshame
just read thread about Presser he just abruptly ended by saying 'there's no oxygen in the room' and then scurried quickily off stage.

Or some such.

Can people verify this?

This indicates he's got serious psychological problems going on.

Yeah, we all KNOW he does, but this is uncontestable proof, if true.

Anxiety out of control.

Anyone got a video clip?

Will this be on the trancript?

2. To be fair, me might have meant ...
Bush has a tendency to take well known phrases or concepts and mangle them. He was probably referring the the cliche that a person who talks a lot or who has a big ego has "sucked all the air out of the room." In his mangled version, it's "there's no oxygen". It's like saying, "It's tough to put food on your family" when he meant it's tough to put food on your table.

5. Just saw it. But he was joking.
Edited on Wed Mar-16-05 11:32 AM by Mugsy
Bush made a comment about "Whoever reorganized the Press Room did a wonderful job" but suggested it was now so full of reporters, he ended the press conference with a laugh and said he was ending it due to a lack of oxygen in the room.

More interesting to me was the fact this was his SIXTH press conference since his inauguration last January? Isn't that more than he gave in HIS ENTIRE FIRST TERM???

7. Well sure. Now ALL the reporters are on the payroll. So he does not have
to worry about having to face a "hostile" press.

10. He gave 16 in his first term
So if he keeps this up, he'll give more in the first year of his second term than in his whole first term.

8. Bipolar?
Is he? I'm not an medical expert but I do have a daughter with it. Manic states: excessive drinking, wild partying, extreme spending, delusions of grandeur, etc. Depressive states; problems focusing on more than one thing at a time, refusing to face reality, panic attacks in closed rooms and in large crowds, self mutilation, etc.

Maybe he just forgot to take his meds. Serious, he has many of the symptoms.

9. He didn't have Gannon for "oxygen" when the questions got tough.
Gannon was his emergency oxygen tank.

12. were there ANY tough questions?? I heard part on radio and
what I heard coulda been copied and read from LBN on DU yesterday, questions asked where the bush answer was already well known.

ONE reporter had a great chance and blew it tho: he asked about SS private accounts. bush said those accounts would make MORE money than SS acounts. the reporter could have asked what happens to the money when the private accounts go bust.............but he didnt.

(Don’t blame me, I voted for Howard).
