It continues..DFA List Candidates for America.

http://www.blogforamerica.com/
These socially progressive and fiscally responsible candidates are truly our "A-List." They are citizen activists dedicated to changing America from the bottom up—The DFA way. They are also our Candidates for America, who represent all Americans from all levels of government. Together, we have come up with a name that truly represents all aspects of what a DFA candidate should be.

Thank you so much for your suggestions and for taking the time to vote. All us at HQ had a great time sorting through suggestions and counting votes. There were so many smart and funny names (Field of Deans) that came from you. And, with your help, we are going to move forward in 2005 with a great slate of candidates that are ready to take our country back!

Thanks again for all that you do.

—Lakshmi Barot
Political Coordinator

Who do you support?
Last month, Democracy for America released the draft version of our Guide for Coalition Groups for feedback and comments. After a month-long review period during which the DFA community submitted dozens of suggestions, Democracy for America put those suggestions into our 2005 Coalition and Endorsement Guide. Now we are ready to start endorsing a new round of socially progressive and fiscally responsible candidates for 2005!
(Here is the pdf file of the standards and setting up a DFA support group)
http://www.democracyforamerica.com/features/DFA_Group_Guide.pdf

Candidates from around the country and for every level of office are already inquiring about how to gain a DFA endorsement and the answer is easy -- Get Local. DFA is encouraging all candidates to seek grassroots support before applying for a national endorsement. Candidates can demonstrate grassroots support through endorsements from DFA coalition groups and your recommendations on DFA's website.

Please tell us what candidates you're supporting at:

www.democracyforamerica.com/recommendation

We are committed to supporting candidates that have grassroots support behind them and with your help we will elect a slate of great fiscally responsible, socially progressive candidates in 2005.

Thank you for all that you do,

—Tom Hughes
Executive Director

100% of DFV Endorsed Candidates Win
Jessica Falker is the Steering Committee Director of Democracy For Vermont.

Democracy For Vermont is proud to announce that all 3 of the DFV endorsed candidates for Select Board recently won their elections! Congratulations to:

Ben Spoon Agave, Select Board in Brattleboro

Howard "Howdy" Russell, Select Board in Hinesburg

Craig A. Bingham, Esq., Select Board in Middlebury

DFV also officially endorsed Gov. Dean for DNC Chair and Gov. Dean won his election on Febuary 12th.

In addition, two members of the DFV Steering Committee won their elections for Select Board. They did not apply for an official endorsement because they felt it would be a conflict. DFV still congratulates them on their victories:

Patty McIntosh, Select Board in Mendon

Anne Stevens, Select Board in Greensboro

Candidates can apply for a Democracy For Vermont endorsement through our website at www.democracyforvermont.com/candidates.html or through their local Meetup host.

Karen Liot Hill, Lebanon City Councilor
Dean-inspired candidate Karen Liot Hill won a seat as a Lebanon City Councilor in New Hampshire this week. Karen worked with Governor Dean during his fellowship at Dartmouth last year:

"He kept telling me over the summer, 'Karen, run for local office,'" said Liot Hill, a program coordinator at Dartmouth's Rockefeller Center...
"I attribute it 100 percent, the fact that I even thought about running, to my involvement with the Dean campaign and everything that came afterward," said Liot Hill, a former Republican who is now a Democrat.

Karen managed to beat the incumbent, Dominic Balestra, 231-132 with her strong battle plan and the help of some key former Upper Valley Dean staffers. Congratulations, Karen!"

4. Now the front page has links for interested candidates
http://www.democracyforamerica.com/

This makes it easier to know how to get started.

There is one for applying yourself, and one for recommending someone. Many of these will be very local candidates, one that are not really even given attention by the party now...at least they are not in our area. Such as city commissioners, school boards, etc.
