Note how this AP caption perfectly reflects GOP talking points >>>
Edited on Thu Mar-10-05 01:43 PM by Stephanie

President Bush (news - web sites) stops to kiss 79-year-old Barbara Gosser, of Louisville after pushing his Social Security (news - web sites) reform message to an audience gathered at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts in Louisville, Ky., Thursday, March 10, 2005. Bush is proposing a system of private accounts, which would enable younger workers to divert a portion of their payroll taxes into stock market investments, giving relief to America's overstressed retirement system. 5. It would be nice if they also included...
"Bush pushed his floundering Social Security plan in front of, yet again, another gathering of thousands of his most ardent republican and corporate supporters."

8. Media whoring goes on at all levels and in many ways ...
from photo captions to the camera direction on cable news. Just look at the camera work on FOX when Britt Hume is interviewing a liberal. The camera will often cut away during the liberals response to a shot of Britt sneering in disgust. It's the little things like that, that have an effect over time yet never get mentioned.

9. Josh Marshall has a post on Susan Page's USA Today article
showing similar bias. She names six people who could impact the Social Security debate, and only one is against privatization.

10. Progress for America called me today
I let them go thru their spiel. They said they would help me draft a letter, free of charge of course, to my congressmen in support of Bush's SS personalization plan. I told her that I had already written my congressman, as well as other states congressmen in opposition to SS privatization and that I was encouraging all people I spoke with to do the same.

She sounded a bit dumbfounded, stuttered, then said "Well, you have a nice day" and she hung up. I'm sure I'm not the first person who told her off today.

DH said we should mount a letterwriting campaign to ALL the congressmen (Rep and Dem alike) and essentially flood their email and fax systems with so many letters.

11. Retirement system would not be overstressed if he hadn't raided it to
pay for stuff like tax breaks for the top 1% and an invasion/war of occupation based on lies so his cronies could get richer off the suffering of our troops and the population of a nation which was not a threat to us :grr:

13. I 'gave up' on AP after the biased election stories...Wrote to them
about four times after noticing how biased their stories were. In one they used, "John Kerry claims to have received three purple hearts". I asked the 'reporter' how he came to doubt the Defense Department's and USN's records. Never got an answer.
