Bridging the Great Divide
Unless we're all prepared to permanently retreat to opposite ends of this dysfunctional house, we have to emerge from behind the barricades and negotiate a separate peace with the natural constituencies of the progressive movement. Otherwise, we're just gettin' mad and yelling. That bridge? We got to it. We're crossing it.

Great article that points to some difficult, perhaps fundamental truths central to the "civil discourse" part of the argument.

Why Dont They Listen to Us?

"I want to talk about us, about how we promulgated and enforced a politically correct line on a series of key social-cultural issues that played into right-wing charges that we were out of touch and helped to consolidate our virtual isolation from America's lower-middle and working class." (cont'd)
