1. It's
the "It'll never happen to me syndrome." I don't plan to waste my pity on these people when it does.

2. I'm thinking maybe morons believe
this bill is to spank credit card companies for cheating consumers. They are unaware that this will kill them off, along with a couple of other changes Shrub is humping.

Take a look at the headline in the Denver Post:
"Debtor Bill Likely to Get OK --Measure seeks to curb abuses when people file for bankruptcy"

do you think it's misleading?

3. Moroned is right
No wonder congress gets away with this crap. People are too stupid to even realize they are being screwed over by credit card companies and the health care industry.

The Republicans wouldn't even approve an amendment allowing for special dispensation for soldiers serving overseas in a war zone!

4. I'm all for personal responsibility...
... (I'm sure that's what the poll respondents are thinking, too). Once again the repukes have gotten the FALSE message out that the 'system' is grossly abused... best stats I've seen are that abuses occur in 3-5% of the filings---- what are the other stats?---50+ % of personal bankruptcies are caused by catastrophic medical bills.

Once again the repub's have made their case sound more compelling than the truth!

Edited on Wed Mar-09-05 05:31 PM by OneMoreDemocrat
post, and I haven't yet been successful, where did you find those numbers.......that abuse occurs in only 3-5% of cases and that 50% of bankruptcies are caused by medical bills?

I'm just curious.

10. Sorry I should have included some links...
These stats have been linked over and over in many threads...but, I realize that doesn't mean everyone has had a chance to read them. I've been off all week so I've had "a lot of time on my hands".

There are many sources of info but here are a few:

6. They think if they whip out a card from the RNC in bankruptcy court...
That the judge will let them walk?? Poor idiot fools that they are. Thats what really gets me about everything that Bush and his Nazi's push though, for the most part they hurt his voters just as much as the people who voted Dem.

You have a hundred thousand or more right here where I live that pulled a lever for Bush. A very small percentage are rich, the others work like slaves just like you and me,and yet they'll pull a lever and let this shit happen to them.

Like is said about Kansas, people vote themselves into serfdom....

7. This Might Explain It
This was taken from an article with a different topic, butI think it applies here also.

Excerpt:

But the oppressor must have the cooperation of the oppressed, of those he must feel better than. The oppressed and the damned are placed in an inferior position by force of arms, physical strength, and later, by threats of such force. But the long-time maintenance of power over others is secured by psychological manipulation and seduction. The oppressed must begin to believe in the divine right and position of kings, the inherent right of an elite to rule, the supremacy of a class or an ethnic group, the power of such condensed wealth as money and private property to give to its owners high social status. So a gigantic and complex myth has been woven by those who have power in this society of the inevitability of classes and the superiority and inferiority of certain groups. The oppressed begin to believe in their own inferiority and are left in their lifetime with two general choices: to identify with the oppressor (imitate him) or to rebel against him. Rebellion does not take place as long as the oppressed are certain of their inferiority and the innate superiority of the powerful, in essence a neurotic illusion. The oppressed appear to be in love with their chains.
