March 12th Day of Action
Karen Gasper is a member of DFA Central Ohio as well as the Columbus DFA Meetup steering committee.
Let's fight Republican corruption in Ohio! Many of you have heard about the so called "Campaign Finance Reform" bill that was passed in a special session during the last Ohio General Assembly (Ohio's legislature.) Once this bill is enacted on March 31st, it will further erode working Ohioans' political voices. But—if 193,700 valid signatures of registered Ohio voters are collected by the 30th—we can stop this bill from becoming law on March 31st and allow Ohioans to decide on the November ballot if H.B 1 should be enacted. House Bill 1:
Increases campaign contributions 400 percent to $10,000
Weakens the right of union members to decide how their union dues are spent in political activities, and
Provides an open door for corporations to pump millions of dollars into election campaigns
The AFL-CIO has spearheaded the effort to prevent H.B. 1 from being enacted by pushing a petition to place a repeal of this law on November's ballot. DFA Central Ohio, Democracy for America, AFL-CIO, United Steel Workers' Associate Member Program, America Votes, 21st Century Democrats, and Ohio Young Democrats are organizing a grassroots push to collect petition signatures this weekend in Columbus. Please join us and bring a friend! We will start at 9am on Saturday, March 12th and will be sending people out throughout day. We will provide you with all necessary materials, training and refreshments to keep you going. To sign up or learn more about the event click here. Please sign up today!
If you live in Ohio, and cannot make it to the petition drive, but still want to help out, please visit:

Your participation is crucial in helping overturn H.B. 1. Even if you do not live in Ohio, spread the word about this event to all Ohioans you know and ask them to get involved. Your actions will make a difference!
