2006 Is More Important Than 2008!
That is all.

2. Yes, it is more important
The Democrats must take control of both the House and the Senate.
If that can be accomplished then the regime in the White House can be brought under control and then to justice.

3. Indeed, it is more important.
I lacks the drama of a POTUS election, but the real power IS in the two houses of congress.

4. Which is why, more and more, I'm so behind Casey Jr even though he's...
against abortion. Everyday I read something about Rick Santorum and I realize we cannot allow this guy to have another 4 years. Casey may be against abortions but I'd call him pro-life since he is for the social issues that will help raise the children born and he's for education in the classroom. Outside of Choice, Casey has a good democratic record.

6. Right now, ideological purity is a luxury we can't afford.
Of course I want to see pro-choice candidates win, but the stakes are too high to risk allowing more neocons in Congress.

The symbolic power of Santorum's defeat alone is worth it; it may well cow some of the more wingnut factions of the right in Congress a bit.

One thing in our favor is that with a Dem controlled Congress, we won't have to deal with ant-choice legislation. No Dem, even if anti-choice, is likely to bring anything up for a vote.

Keep our eyes on the prize: Congress 2006.

8. Yes, sadly. When the house is burning down, one can't stop to save
the fine china, beautiful and treasured as it may be. Once the house is rebuilt we can buy new china, perhaps even finer than what we lost. Point being, we have to gain control of our government again. Then we can afford to be pickier about our candidates. And as you mentioned a few pro-life Dems won't buck the platform.

9. I feel the same way about Carper and Biden.
Edited on Wed Mar-09-05 10:42 AM by woodsprite
At least they're Dem. I think, despite his cockiness, Biden and Carper both are followers. If we had good strong Dem leadership in there, I think they'd follow.

Castle, DE's Republican congressman, is a moderate and a pretty good guy, but I'd seriously consider any Dem that would run against him. I think he's less of a follower than Biden and Carper are.

Edited 'cause I can't spell today.

11. Take back the House and Senate by campaining openly about impeachment.
Win Congress back, then follow through.

Not that any of this matters without voter-verified paper ballots in all districts...an issue none of the mainstream politicians seem to want to tackle.
