31 voted to filibuster the bankrupcy bill while 42 voted for the choice
amendment. Pro life voters are often chastised here for voting against the economic interests by voting for Republicans. Yet this is a good example of why a reasonable person could believe that our party cares more about abortion, than it does about economics. For the record I think the Schumer amendment was justified and the bill a bad bill. If you break the law, even for a good reason, you should have to pay the piper. But it should appall anyone who cares about economic justice that a mere 31 Democrats, out of a possible 45, voted to support a filibuster against such a benefit the rich boondoggle. Yet 42 out of 45 voted for that amendment. While I would never vote for a Republican, I have to admit it is very hard for me to make the case to someone that our party actually does care about economic justice to the same extent it cares about abortion rights.

Blocking this bill would have been doing well by doing good. Thanks to 15 people who forget what our party is about, we blew this opportunity.

1. The Dems don't care about working people
and really have not for many years. Every four years they dust off their hard hats and attend Labor Day picnics, hoping that working class Americans, union and non union, will forget how often the Dems have stood with the other big business party.

2. And if we vote for them back in next time, we blow it too.

Anyone else sick of blowing? I'm tired of voting for more of the same. 25 years' worth is too much. No core values. Just Value$. Figure it out folks.

Credit is one thing. Having the banks hype up commercials to lure in young kids as if it's nothing is another. This bankruptcy bill only tilts things even their favor; there is no justice. Unless you have money. (okay, 'yuoung kids' - rather college-age young adults, but it wouldn't surprise me if they start givbing out phony credit cards in schools, the same way they made us treat chicken eggs as babies: Didn't stop children from having children, now did it?

And I bet that whiny arrogant asshole on NBC with that dumb show will be able to bankrupt himself again and again and again whenever he wants to.

3. I still don't understand why we couldn't have a united caucus on this.
The Republicans were united in defeating all of ouramendments. Why couldn't we unite to kill their bill?

Click on the link to find how much money has gone to both parties since 1990 to get this bankrtupcy bill finally passed--over $40 million dollars, 64% to Rethugs and 36% to Dems!

The American people have been sold out by the Congressmen who have taken this money and voted against the best interests of the American people.

Let us take names, and pledge to not support anyone who votes for this giveaway to the banks and credit card companies in 2008.

7. The Dems don't unite because they have become the
reactionary party. Instead of setting their own agenda the Dems allow the Republicans to set the agenda and merely react to what the pugs do. This is why the Dems are setting themselves up to be a permanent minority party. As long as people see little or no difference between the parties they will either stay home and not vote or they will vote for the party who seems SURE of what they stand for, and that party is the not party that voted to support a war on a country that did not threaten the US.
