Call your senator and ask them to FILIBUSTER the bankruptcy bill
If there was ever a bill to filibuster, this one is is. The republicans have no argument for this bill--it's a clear giveaway to the credit card industry. If Dems would filibuster and bring to light all the nasty things this bill contains, maybe--just maybe--there might be enough pressure brought to bear upon the ruling party to at least accept a few of the amendments that were offered and summarily voted down.
2. Filibuster Weapon Has Not Been Used Yet By Dems.
The bill, like others, could be stopped dead in its tracks with a filibuster. Bush's latest presidential appointments and class action lawsuit bill could have been derailed with a simple filibuster.
The Republican party would not be so timid as the Democratic Party. Does anyone doubt they would use the filibuster?
Any chance the Democratic Party might begin functioning like an opposition party?
