7. What we need are facts

There are so few facts on the table that much of what is being said is just noise and hyperbole.

My current synthesis of what happened is:
- It was regular army unit
- A spotlight was used

Unclear Items:
- Whether the US knew about the car or the ransom
- If the cell phone being jammed
- How fast the car was going
- It was a regular (vice just set up) choke point or check point

Clearly false items
- 400 rounds (would be more like 50)
- Shot by a tank (there were survivors)

I posted previously that I do not believe regular troops would knowingly carry out an assassination. I stand by that position. However, they could have been lied to (radio report that a known IED car coming their way...)

A good forensic team could clear a lot of this up. Hopefully one with credibility will be formed (perhaps joint with Italy).

3. Yes-- I have also wondered who her "kidnappers" were.

Particularly since they warned her about the Americans trying to get her. It's very fishy.

Clearly, the US was targetting her because they didn't like her reporting on Fallujah.
