Caller To Washington Journal Just Ripped Them Royally
He was a Democrat. He was mad, and he said that he tried to get through on the Democrats line, but couldn't get through, after trying many times. Then he said he lied, and tried to get through on the repuglucan line, and got right through. Then he said they took 10 repglican calls, and then there were 2 repugs who called on the Democrats line, and asked them why they were doing this, and accused them of being "bought out" too, like everybody else.
I liked his spirit. C-Span is better than some channels, but they sure as hell aren't perfect. The host responded by saying that they'd try to think about what he said as calls come in.

1. The Freepers "owned" today's Journal
They commandeered the Dem line and the moderator did not comment on it, nor did he try to "balance" with more calls from Dems until things were more in proportion. I was just getting ready to switch channels when that guy finally got through and called them on it.

He made my heart sing.

2. He is right, I have had trouble getting through...
for the past 2 months. I was able to get through easily before, and I have been hung up on before to, and no I did not violate the 30 day rule.

3. Why do they bother having separate lines? The must know by now
that the callers will call on whatever line they can get to quicker, if not outright lie.

It's a massive fraud or simply insanely stupid. No tinfoil hat here--I'm guessing the latter.

4. The fact that rules are routinely ignored
on something as trivial as this is a sign of the overall corruption of our culture. I've seen studies on how rampant cheating is in our schools. Our entire society is a rotten, stinking, fetid mass of contradictions and cognitive dissonance.

In some ways, it seems we are repeating the last days of the Soviet Union. However, I do not think our departure from the world stage will be peaceful. Cheney will take the whole world down with us and * will call it "God's will."

5. I've heard Brian on several interviews say that callers lie ALL the time.
He said they keep separate phone lines to try to even out the calls, but sometimes there are subjects where there simply are NO calls on one side. I don't always agree with Brian, but I really believe he tries to do the best with c-span. Remember, he started cpsan, and the politicians fought him all the way. At least televising floor speaches, committee meetings, etc. we all have a chance to see for ourselves who's saying what and makeing our own judgement. It's the ONLY chanel that eliminates the media judgement. I'm sure glad we have it!

6. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way!
Every time I see the threads slamming Brian Lamb, I just have to shake my head. Not because I think he's perfect, nor because I think he doesn't demonstrate a bit of conservative (not RW, but conservative) bias at times -- but because he basically created CSPAN against significant resistance, and it's the only national public access channel we have.

I mean, c'mon -- where else can you see a 3-hour interview with Howard Zinn alongside a panel hosted by the American Enterprise Institute? For all its faults, CSPAN is STILL an invaluable piece of American democracy.

And if you're expecting serious journalism from a call-in show like WJ, then you're going to be waiting an unbelievably long time....

7. AEI one million appearances, Howard Zinn ?
Brian Lamb and C-SPAN are worse than CNN and FOX put together.
Blows my mind anyone extends credit to these right wing propagandists.
Fair unbalanced.
