P-R-I-V-A-T-I-Z-A-T-I-O-N! Fuck-face McConnell's whiny coniptions...
Edited on Sun Mar-06-05 08:59 PM by jefferson_dem
Continuing with the "private" versus "personal" accounts theme -

The Rethug scum HATE that word - privatization! We know why...TRUTH meet HURT! NOW they want to sit down and talk! LOL! Keep it up. No mas. They are reeling...on the run!

:spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank:

SEN. McCONNELL: If Pat Moynihan were still alive, he'd be here to speak for himself. But here's what he said about the use of the word "privatization," which you notice my good friend Dick Durbin keeps putting in. Senator Daniel Moynihan said about privatization, "That's a scare word. That's a scare word. No one is privatizing Social Security. Nothing of that sort is happening."

Now, that's Daniel Patrick Moynihan, the Democratic expert on Social Security. I wish he were still alive to be here and make that statement himself. Why do we have to keep using that word? The reason they want to use that word is they want to politicize this issue. Why don't we just stop that and sit down together now that it's clear from the tour of the last two days, that Dick and Harry Reid and others believe that it's time to start talking? Why don't we just sit down and start talking about the subject and see what we can work out on a bipartisan basis?

3. Chapter 8 of "Perfectly Legal" by David Cay Johnston shows us
Edited on Sun Mar-06-05 09:05 PM by EVDebs
that Pat Moynihan didn't think anything was wrong with Social Security back in the '80's when Reagan tax cuts for the rich had to be paid for by dinkering with Social Security in the first go-around of this tactic by the Republicans !

Please catch the title of that chapter too, "How Social Security Taxes Subsidize the Rich" !!!!!

"Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, a New York Democrat and a scholar with a long history of studying social policy issues, said the Social Security scare was a phantom. He said raising more from Social Security taxes simply masked the drop in tax revenues caused by the Reagan tax cuts. Moynihan called the Social Security tax hike "theivery". The beneficiaries of the stolen goods, he said, were the rich who would get to keep their Reagan income tax cuts while everyone below them paid more in taxes." page 122

Looks like this is just the same M.O. fast-forwarded 23 years later and by the same cast of characters ! Even Greenspan, the Ayn Rand disciple, is back at it, along with the same scare tactics. And this time out of the chute the stakes are $1.8 Trillion in Bush tax cuts...

Democrats...Hold that line ! Hold that line !

13. He is suppose to be mine, too, but since he does everything
but act senatorial, dignified (hard to find dignity when you are constantly on your knees giving King Chimpy a BJ, reasonable, sane, or honest he is not my senator. He is a hateful, awful, mean, sneaky, war mongering, partisan hack. That he just happens to live in DC and has the title senator is a miscarriage of justice and a perfect example of all that is wrong with the world. God, I hate McConnell. And Bunning. And Lewis, Northup and every other repug that claims to represent my beautiful state.

and this business of beginning each answer to a question with a democratic put-down, is sooooo wearing on my last nerve. And Russert just let 'em skate.....

6. Very entertaining, McConnell
never would answer Russerts question about how private accounts affect solvency.

14. McConnell has let it be known that he is going after Frist's job
in 2006. Don't know whether Frist is not running for re-election or just decided he doesn't like the job but McConnell wants that Majority Leadership and he will be willing to do or say anything to get it. Think we will start seeing a lot more of ol' Mitchy Poo on the talk circuit - not saying anything but how awful and unAmerican Dems are.

9. Didn't a Moynihan 'kid' ask that the admin not compare
his/her dad's remarks with the repug party this past week? I will try to find a link, but I do recall hearing that. Soooo, get over it, asshat McConnell!

10. Yup. You're right. Dirty scoundrels have no shame.
"It's confusing to me and my mom why they are constantly invoking him without presenting his position on Social Security," said Maura Moynihan, the senator's daughter, referring as well to his widow, Elizabeth.

"I think it's odd or strange or unsettling that the Democrat being invoked here is dead and not able to defend or explain his position, which we all know he would have done with eloquence and passion," said Ms. Moynihan, who described herself as a liberal who supported Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts in the presidential race.

11. Same thing with FDR's grandson
He said something to the effect of stop invoking his name for something he would have opposed.
