Congressman only "kind of joking" about bombing Syria
phew!! glad he was only kind of joking (and kind of being serious) about nuking another country.....

http://salon.com/news/wire/2005/03/04/joke/index.html

The Feb. 19 remarks by Rep. Sam Johnson, R-Texas, at a church pancake breakfast were first reported this week in Roll Call. The Capitol Hill newspaper reported it had heard a recording of the talk made by someone in attendance.

<snip>

According to Roll Call, Johnson said he told the president: "Syria is the problem. Syria is where those weapons of mass destruction are, in my view. You know, I can fly an F-15, put two nukes on 'em and I'll make one pass. We won't have to worry about Syria anymore."

<snip>

"I was kind of joking -- you know, we were talking between veterans," he said. He added that President Bush knew he was joking.

2. Always refreshing to see they have a sense of humor. I just think
other countries are a little stuck up and cannot quite share these little jokes.

9. " Yup, at the church pancake breakfast
me and the prez always talk 'bout killing on a mass scale. It's just one of the many of the republican Christian topics we all talk 'bout after republican Christian mass."(sarcasm off)

It sickens me that our country's "leadership" has regressed to such barbaric levels. We are truly on the precipice, one more 9/11 "attack" and democracy, as we know it, will be replaced by a totalitarian police state void of reason, intellect, tolerance, integrity, compassion, empathy, love, diversity and thought. The barbarians are truly at the gates, again, just like in the 1930's in Germany. Except this time, after Rep. Sam Johnson "puts two nukes on 'em" the world will quickly acquiesce to the new world order and chimperor-in-chief. Of course, there will be many "insurgents" who will continue to hate our freedom, which will beget more restrictive laws to snuff out personal rights and lives.

There is truly a "bad moon rising".
(John Fogerty)

Now that I'm done ranting, I remain hopeful that through media efforts such as AirAmericaRadio, we will stop the rise of evil once again.

11. Gee, maybe Mr. Johnson . . .
Maybe we should string Mr. Johnson up by his eyelids and beat him in the balls until he blinks.

Just kidding! See? It's a joke to talk about torturing a sitting Congressman! Funny, huh? Hey, why aren't those guys in dark glasses at my front door laughing? No sense of humor!

12. Why is it that Republicans are always said to have "misspoken"
or "were only joking" when called on the carpet for over-the-top comments, while Democrats are sentenced to burn in hell for the same offense?
Of all the crappy comments this past week by Pubs and religious fundies (i.e. the Phelps-crew's "God Hates America" sign), what comment were the Sunday talk-shows repeating over and over again? Why,it was Harry Reid's haughty, obnoxious, juvenile, crass, nasty, uncalled for, shameful, rude remark that Alan Greenspan was a political hack. Horrors!! The House Ethics Committe should demand an apology!!!! The Senate should hold hearings, and Dick "Fuckayou" Cheney should preside!
