1. I bought a bunch of the thinkblue to hand out and noticed after seeing
an olive-drab "support the troops" wristband that had "made in china" stamped on the inside that the thinkblue ones did too. I wrote to them asking about switching to a US supplier and they were already on it. They said at the beginning there was NO US manufacturer that could do the job but they did find one and they sent me 2 more gratis!

One small thing though, they don't say "Made in the USA" on the inside, they are just blank, so I was a little disappointed. Anyone have one of these stinkred ones and see if they are made in china?

thinkblue should also come out with red ones and an anti-campaign like "Red-ink Republicans" or "Official Republican Red Debtors Handcuff" or "$7,555,555,555,555 and growing.." or any of a million other repuke "accomplishments".

16. Oh yes
let's support the troops and send all the profits to China and not to them or VA's hospitals. :eyes:

4. Note the "All Profit" goes to charity
So when you notice you have a profit of X dollars, just give yourself a raise of X dollars and ergo you don't have anything you can give to charity... Now that's how a Republican would think!

6. Robert - I'll thank you for your cynicism, and correct it.
RobertSeattle,

I heard there was a post on this site to the effect of what you just mentioned - and it sickened me. To the point that I came to this site, registered, donated just so I could search for your post, and now, my reply.

The fact is, when you see 'ALL PROFITS' are donated, that's the truth, ALL PROFITS. think BLUE, an organization I helped start, is 100% volunteer. Those of us that put in 100 hours a week working on it have not removed a single dime for our time - not ONE PENNY. Not only that, but for the few people that have taken us up on the offer to see our financials, we have gladly shown them - perhaps you would fall into that category.

It's true, a few nonprofits have sullied the word nonprofit - but I, for one, am not so cynical as to assume that any given nonprofit has inflated salaries and thus no profits to give. In our case, to the contrary - we have given $5K each month since we launched, and we will continue to do so.

Now look - we are very clear on our site - we obviously have to pay some people for services - such as, we had to outsource much of our web development, we actually had to hire 30 minutes of attorney time to walk us through campaign finance law, and in the coming weeks are are going to work with a local nonprofit to handle our fulfillment (this local nonprofit helps mentally disabled persons find work). So yes, to say we are 100% volunteer, perhaps, is not entirely accurate - but to say that none of us is on a salary, or any equivalent, is entirely accurate. We defend our honor, and our good name, with vigor.

There's a reason we ship 1,500 bracelets a day, over 60,000 in the past month and a half - it's because people believe in grass roots efforts that, in fact, are not driven by greed or profit. Of our success we are proud, and this is all the compensation we need:

8. thanks!
No, I don't think it will be...I've been all over the site, can't believe how much is covered here. It's quite good stuff.

I'm wondering, who runs it? I wouldn't committ our organization to anything, but I think this kind of place could easily be a donor organization for us (so far, we've stuck to more mainstream stuff like the red cross, moveon, adopt a platoon, buyblue...etc), but the point has come up that smaller organizations could benefit a lot more from our 'customer's' money than the big ones. It's a good point.

So...I guess I'll search for an about page, although I looked earlier and couldn't easily locate it.

Nice to have found this place. I'll be back, for sure.

10. 'I wear one' - just caught that
So, you should wear 2 - those are the emails we most frequently get, people are amazed that if you wear 2 you get comments/questions, etc, and turns out people love giving the extra band away, right off their wrist.

Drop me an email - chris@thinkblue2008.com, with your mailing address and we'll send you out a few on the house. I'm sure you'll find good wrists for them (maybe even some like mine - former W voters...reformed, fortunately).

13. Hi thinkBlue!
Edited on Sat Mar-05-05 03:09 AM by NightOwwl
I just ordered 10. Can I make a suggestion? Your checkout page has the instructions: Please press continue to enter the secure encrypted Paypal environment. But nowhere on the page is the word 'continue.' No button or link.

There is a box that says Checkout, and it turns out that is what needs to be clicked. But it doesn't look like a button, and when you hold your mouse over it, the cursor doesn't change. I almost gave up on my order because I couldn't figure out how to get to the next page. I finally clicked 'Checkout' out of desperation.

The checkout button should actually look like a button, and the cursor should change should when the mouse is held over it. Also, the text should match your instructions. I'd hate to think of how many orders you are losing because getting past the checkout page is very confusing the way it's laid out.

I'll PM you as well.

Hi NightOwwl - thanks, that's a really good tip- I'm going to switch it later this morning. What's better, it's actually something I can change myself...I'm not terribly HTML friendly.

Amazing how many people go to the site, and what a new set of eyes can see. Thanks! Can you do me a favor, send Sarah an email at sarah@thinkblue2008.com (she's doing orders today), and ask her to put a few extra in for you (tell her I sent you)...just find some good progressive wrists for them.

No, the www.thinkred2008.com guys are actually just running a scam - they don't have a single bracelet (to my knowledge), nor have they ever. A couple of us ordered from them a month ago, just to confirm our suspicions, and we never received a band, nor will they reply to our emails.

This serves as a warning to conservatives looking for a red band, please find another...I don't want to see anyone get burned...

23. Why would the "Red Cross" continue to support the same
administration they have repeatedly accused of torture, mistreatment of prisoners, withholding food from the Iraqi people, moving and or hiding prisoners from inspection, etc.?

I think we are all better served by spreading the message than advertising our affiliation. Not that I don't advertise my political affiliation. I have the bumper stickers and such but the important thing is spreading the message of truth about the policies of this administration.

I have never seen a "red" or "blue" version of this bracelet and to be perfectly honest with you I think the yellow version of it marks a whole lot of churchgoers. Churches touted this bracelet left and right a year ago. I support raising money for cancer, but I refuse to advertise the fact that I gave money for that cause! I don't need to toot my own horn! IMO, that is a uniquely fundie way of advertising their worthiness for "rapture!"
