Dems Counter Bush Trip To Garden State

Mar 3, 2005 11:43 am US/Eastern
(1010 WINS) (WASHINGTON) The Democrats' battle for the hearts and minds -- and wallets -- of voters worried about Social Security hits the road Friday, with its first stop at a New York City college.

On the same day President Bush visits Westfield, N.J., to tout his plan for personal accounts within Social Security, Senate Democrats will bring their opposing effort to Pace University.

The Pace event is the first of a four-city swing featuring former presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry and New York's two senators, Charles Schumer and Hillary Rodham Clinton. Also on the trip will be Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, Dick Durbin of Illinois and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota.

They will continue on to stops in Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Las Vegas.

2. Can you imagine - counter-stops in each of the cities where dumbya
is making his pitch for SS piratization?

If only this could be done. If only the press would cover it.

3. Well it's About Time.
I was wondering how long it'd be before any of our folks went on any sort of offensive.

Rangel was on the Sunday shows a few weeks back, and also Cspan. Others have too, and they're only getting warmed up. Pelosi, Reid, and a lot of others have spoken out. They are being careful not to talk about details until the prez outlines his first. Smart.

Meanwhile, public support for *'s SS reform idea hovers at only 31%, according to Al Franken today. :)

9. According to CNN yesterday, 47%. Who believes the polls anyway?
If the US can't get the exit polls right, why should I listen to pollsters, a lazy journalist's tool.

8. This is great news...
...and a great idea.

(I can attest for sure that Durbin will be good. He was ON FIRE at the town hall meeting/rally about it in Chicago this past Monday. Obama and Rep. Schakowsky, too.) Go Kerry! Go Reid!
