An ultimatum from the grassroots that will work - guaranteed!

Looks like the dems MAY hold together on Social Security, but we need more than that -- we need them to make NO compromises whatsoever and hand Bush a huge defeat.

We also need dems to hold together on putting down this draconian bankruptcy bill, and it's not so sure a thing they will do that.

Are you sick and tired of always worrying whether or not dems will cave to right or compromise on nearly every issue in congress? Shouldn't we, like the con grassroots folks, be able to KNOW and have confidence that our side is going to hang tough on issues? Don't most of us know, in our hearts, that dems would garner more votes if they we're uncompromising and showed strength of principle?

As Howard likes to say WE have the power. And it's money that is the power. We know that party operatives read DU. Let's let them know, right now, right here, that the main condition of our financial support is that they must hold together and stand firm on our party's principles and WITH their party on each and every issue.

Let's pledge to hold back our checks and to encourage every like minded dem friend and co-worker to do the same unless and until we see a pattern of our party marching lockstep with our leadership, giving no ground to Bush and the republicans.

We CAN make that happen. We simply need to reward good behavior and make it clear we will withhold money if necessary to make our point.

Who wants to take the pledge? NO MONEY to a party that doesn't stand firm on our principles!! And No money from us, our friends, our family, our co-workers if we can help it. A thread with 500 replies yes just might make the point we need to make.

3. Pledge NOTHING!

Nothing, not ONE THIN DIME, to ANY candidate who capitulates to the BushCo corruptocracy. Nothing. DON'T GIVE IN TO BUSH...use UNITY the same way they've used it against US.

If your Congressman is about to vote with Bush, send an e-mail IMMEDIATELY demonstrating your pledge not to send them a dime, and that you'll also work hard to make sure all your dem friends know he/she is just a BushCo enabler.

4. Okay, I can go for this in the short term, but

in the long term it only helps the repugs. Count me in for the next couple of weeks.
