Today, in the mail, out of the blue, I received a letter from the Republican National Committee. It came in an fancy grey envelop with DO NOT BEND! stamped on the top and PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO ENCLOSED on the bottom. I was repulsed at first, but upon opening it and viewing the stunning photograph of Laura and Dubya...I was overwhelmed. The way Laura is sort of caressing her ass and the chimp....I mean our president is squinting, smirking and oozing confidence...I mortgaged the house and started writing checks to the Republican National Committee.
You see there is a letter from Ken Mehlman as well. He says it would "mean a lot to know your photograph arrived in good condition and is suitable for framing and display." He then goes on to suggest I send a check while I'm at it.
Mehlman takes pot shots at Pelosi, Reid, Hillary and Kerry saying they will push the Democrats failed big government and freewheeling tax and spend policies. Plus he says we have to counter the systematic Democratic spinelessnes..I mean obstruction and get past the liberal media.
He ends by asking that I help promote the president's compassionate conservative agenda. How can I not? It's all so clear to me now.

No photo (thank God! I've got a weak stomach!), but it was a RNC membership card in the name of the person who previously owned the house I now own. So I took the "no-postage-necessary" envelope, stuffed it as full as I could get it with heavy junk, and mailed it in, postage due of course.

Wish I had a million of those envelopes.

seeking my opinions as a Republican Opinion Leader. So I filled out the questionaire and sent it back to my new best buddy Frist with $5.00. I'll bet that in printing, postage, phone solicitations and such they must have spent $50.00 trying to get more money out of me as a "past donor." And of course the whole time I was laughing my ass off. I'd just ask once in a while when I could expect to receive my "Super secret Republican decoder ring." Telephone solicitors didn't quite know how to deal with that.

It was a fair amount of fun for $5.00.

She dealt with it very appropriately. The feisty Southern lady drew a Hitler mustache on Bush's face and a swastika on his forehead, and placed it back in the envelope. She then proceeded to stuff the envelope with as much junk as she could fit into it, including several pennies and a strongly worded response to their request, until it was full and heavy, then sent it back to the RNC as her contribution. Gotta love her.

hi all, i'm new here although i have been lurking for quite some time. just had to get up the courage to post. this thread brings back the memory of receiving an official photo of the lovely couple from their ranch during the campaign...looking for donations. we hung the picture up on the bulletin board and stuck pins in it like a voo doo doll. we also took one of our sons play money $20.00 bills and sent it in as a contribution in the return envelope. we still don't know why we even received it in the first place but it felt good to contribute the way we did.

during the summer,when I was staying at their house, asking for money for the campaign, and to become "part of the Bush team". They got it because they are both independents, and my bro in law's company gives money to Republicans. I send the RNC $3.00 every year and sign up to receive their info. I like to know at least some of what the Repub's are up to. Those people are organized!

I get lots of cool stuff in the mail that I KNOW must cost them more than $3.00 to send out. So faux-members like me are a net drag on RNC resources-- is that so wrong?

I've gotten big photo portraits of the first family, for example, that I had my children color and "enhance"-- they're taped to our refrigerator. Great conversation starter.

I did not send them anything (that penny idea is pretty good) but a very nasty detailed letter ripping into how the party has changed for the worse in the past few years.

Have not heard from them since.

I give to some Veterans groups, so that is probably how they got my name.
