2. Hammer Mehlman --- but do it in a non-Freeptard way
My email:

Robert Novak's quote of Howard Dean is incorrect.Do some fact checking.
Why are you plugging it on your web site? http://www.gop.com/News/Read.aspx?ID=5215
Simply put, your web master is either a fraud or a fool. As chairman, you are ultimately responsible. Shouldn't I also then consider you a fraud or a fool?

3. Wow that is so far off the mark it's scary
He referred to the first crisis being that it would only be "80% funded" in 2035. Whereas Bush's current budget is negative 114 thousand percent unfunded.

17. My letter:
I saw this quote on your website:

(inserted quote)

Unfortunately, Mr. Novak has it wrong. The point Mr. Dean made was that social security will still be 80% funded, not lose 80% of the benefits.

Mr. Novak has his percentages backwards, among other things. I sincerely hope you correct this error and encourage Mr Novak to apologize.

Thank you...

Pennsylvanians.

Let's keep that meme going, "It's a Veterans' Tax."

Contact RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman and tell him to take down the false release from his website and tell Robert Novak it's time for him to issue an on-air correction.

WoooHOOOOOOOOOOO! Folks, looks like WE HAVE A POLITICAL OPPOSITION PARTY HERE. How's it feel?

9. New York!
Homeland Security
The Bush 2006 budget cuts $420 million to state and local funding for homeland security, including a $49.4 million cut for New York. These cuts will take police and firefighters off your streets.

The Bush budget cuts the COPS program, which has put 11,927 officers on New York streets, by 96 percent.

Bush's 2006 budget also cuts the Low Income Heating Energy Assistance Program -- which helps low-income families afford heating fuel in the winter -- by $234.4 million, including $29.3 million cut for New York residents.

Hope those cops who voted for bush are happy with the cuts bush is instigating!

This is an amazing site now..I'm going to be telling some other New Yorkers about this.

15. I Said I Wasn't Going To Do It....
but yesterday when the DNC called me I caved in and donated $75.00. I told the guy I was doing so with some reserve, but I would do it to help Howard Dean. We got to talking and he told me "I can't tell you how many people I've contacted have said the same thing!" He said most were disappointed with the Democrats who aren't out there standing up for US!

But maybe, just maybe if we just keep BLOGGING and writing and getting the message out LOUD & CLEAR, then we ARE making the difference needed to make them WAKE-UP!

It's been slow going, but I'm feeling better about OUR PARTY and what we CAN DO!!

So REPUKES,
Here We Come!! :dem: :kick: :headbang: :bounce: :toast:

22. DNC headlines: GOP Faith-Based Propaganda: "Poor People Stuff"
http://www.democrats.org/news/200503010005.html

The Los Angeles Times reported President Bush used his faith-based agenda to "court support for reelection among African American and Latino clergy by establishing ties between the administration and their churches." . While Bush repeatedly seeks opportunities to preach about his commitment to helping those who are neediest in society, the reality is that his own former senior White House staffer has criticized Bush’s faith-based efforts as an unfulfilled, minimal commitment that is not interested in the "poor people stuff."

For the reality on the White House's commitment to help those in need, see the attached chart: George W. Bush vs. Reality.
http://a9.g.akamai.net/7/9/8082/v001/www.democrats.org/pdfs/20050301_bushvreality.pdf

A snip from the pdf file linked.
SNIP..."“Minimal Senior White House Commitment To
The Faith-Based Agenda.” David Kuo, deputy
director of the White House Office of Faith-Based
and Community Initiatives for much of Bush's first
term, said in published remarks that the White
House reaped political benefits from the president's
promise to help religious organizations win
taxpayer funding to care for ‘the least, the last and
the lost’ in the United States. But he wrote: ‘There
was minimal senior White House commitment to
the faith-based agenda.’”

More:
White House Not Interested In “Poor People
Stuff.” “‘Capitol Hill gridlock could have been
smashed by minimal West Wing effort,’ Kuo wrote
on Beliefnet.com, a Web site on religion. ‘No
administration since has had
a more successful legislative record than this one.
From tax cuts to Medicare, the White House gets
what the White House really wants. It never really
wanted the ‘poor people stuff.’”

28. Well, You're Just Full Of Info!!
GREAT! I too live in Florida and not too happy with our representation here. I don't really think Martinez won, but we are stuck with him! I'm also not too happy with Bill Nelson these days either. I've posted this many times here at DU and have sent info to Bill Nelson too!

But no matter, we need to keep up our work here and LET OUR representatives know just HOW INTENSE we feel!!!

Let's keep it BUBBLING!!

Oh, and MY representative is none other than CRUELLA herself!! Who also isn't very well liked. Funny stuff went on here in Sarasota County and almost everyone knows it. Katherine Harris is a REAL WITCH!!!

23. A copy of my LTTE
Dear Editor,

We citizens need to know that Bush's proposed budget will hurt us. It is ironic that our biggest danger lies now not with terrorists but with the corporatocrats now controlling the White House.

He plans to cut $60 billion - that's with a B ! - in Medicaid, even though Medicaid is in far more dire straits than Social Security ever will be.

Bush would short his own No Child Left Behind Act by more than $13 billion. This will effectively cripple schools - where's the uproar about this unfunded mandate?

Bush wants to cut $420 million in homeland security funds, when not one terrorist has yet been found here. Do we really think there are no more terrorist cells?

And while Bush cuts these vital priorities, his budget sticks future generations with a record $427 billion deficit -- new debt we'll have to borrow from foreign countries like China and Japan. And what is that going to do to the value of the dollar?

Why does he want to do this? So that he can let his rich friends like Kennyboy keep even more money? So that those who have only 3 or 4 houses can buy another one? So that those who already incorporate off-shore to avoid paying taxes can avoid paying their fair share of income taxes, too?

25. And my LTTE about Novak
To Chairman Mehlman,

The Republican Party is rapidly proving to be the party of liars, cheats and bullies. Do you really want to see the RNC devolve in this fashion? As a Democrat, I value a strong opposition - thus a strong Republican Party is an asset to this country and to the Democratic Party.

However, a party that resorts to outright lies is a party that is corrupt and desperate. This is dangerous for our country and of no value to us as Democrats. Believe me, we are finding our voice and we will take full advantage of making fun of your glaring errors.

Therefore, I state plainly to you that it is in the best interests of a responsible and honorable Republican Party to immediately remove any misstatements of facts. Howard Dean did not say what Novak claims he said - you know that very well. Therefore, it is incumbent on you to remove this false release from your website and direct Novak to issue a retraction.

Loving the Novak/Mehlman part. Makes you wonder if Novak gets paid to skew the facts so well for the GOP, he seems to be quite adept at propaganda journalism. I just hope he's not a gay prostitute- the thought makes me shudder.

Still not up to the technical and aesthetic quality of the GOP site sadly but I've noticed some changes since Dean's come on board. Guess he's bringing in people who know activist websites or maybe more to the point, Dean knows what can be done with a good website and is giving the designers leave to be creative.

Send him back to Crawford (sorry Texas) and begin sorting through the cabal's crimes followed by a decade of litigation.

35. CNN's Woodruff corrected Novak's Dean misquote
From Media Matters....

Following Media Matters for America's March 1 item noting that syndicated columnist and CNN host Robert Novak had misquoted Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean for the second time, CNN host Judy Woodruff corrected Novak's error.

<snip>

From the March 1 edition of Inside Politics:

WOODRUFF: CNN's Robert Novak reported an item about Democratic Party chairman Howard Dean. He said that when Dean spoke to students at Cornell University last week, Dean remarked that in 30 years, Social Security would lose 80 percent of its benefits. Bob Novak misquoted Governor Dean, it turns out. Bob tells us that he intended to report that Governor Dean said that in 30 years, if nothing changed, Social Security would be reduced to 80 percent of its current benefits. We apologize for the mistake and are happy to set the record straight.
