I have this sneaking suspicion that it's a really bad idea...

Seems also like we tried privatized retirement accounts before, but it was in the 1920's, so I guess there aren't that many people left alive that remember what happens when you tie pensions and retirement savings to a free market that then tanks.

I think it resulted in a lot of old, hungry people. Isn't that why we set up Social Security Trust in the first place? It wasn't so much about getting a better return on investment, as it was about making sure that old people don't starve to death...I mean, correct me if I'm off the mark here...
