Poll question: Who is for tossing Al From out of the party NOW?
"You've got to reject Michael Moore and the MoveOn crowd," DLC CEO Al From said in an interview about how the Democratic Party should rebuild after 2004.

5. First thing's first
There are a couple of other names I can think of that I'd rather isolate. #1 on the list is Zell Miller. Leiberman's quickly gaining strength for a top ten spot.

7. no purges
just remove the dlc from power. Their hold on power was based on their ability to deliver corporate cash. Dean proved we don't need that particular nipple anymore. F all of them. They can leave if they don't like where this bus is going, the door is always open.

8. Why not get rid of ALL the Dems with BALLS!! then we can be the milktoast
Party. We need MORE Moore's and MORE Move ons. We need to fight the lies aggressively not like a bunch of whining sissies. When Bush lies we need to scream it out. when the GOP tries to cut benefits for the Veterans, elderly, and poor, we need to let every American in on their Bullshit. This guy is an idiot :evilfrown:

9. You've got to be joking...

If you want me to vote for a right-of-center Liebermanesque GOP wannabe, you're nuts. It's the Al's and the Howards that got me interested in the Democrats in th' first place...

I get the feeling that this was posted by a Gephardt supporter, or something.

10. Listen up, Al - the Republicans are not playing it in old traditional ways
and we don't need your old tradional ways to fight them, but thanks for the things you've done that have helped.

And Al, if you're wondering, we need rejunivation and a passion to preserve and protect our country, NOT ACCOMODATE the takeover of our country.

Get with it Al - maybe you can help again.

13. Theoretically, he's still a (D) vote at the ballot box
I'm not sure tossing people out is a feasible approach to electoral victory.

15. Well, given the fact that
we're not able to toss him out anyway, seems like we're even.

But we can dream. AND we can further the knowledge about how despicable the DLC really is, so that bright people won't get (or stay) drawn in by their siren song. Eh?

:hi:

19. Yeah, throw his ass out !!!!
From the article:

From also said that a 2-to-1 Democratic advantage in party ID in 1964 has become an even split, and that key voting blocs like women, Catholics, Hispanics, and even seniors are turning away from the party. Only two Democratic presidential candidates have won a majority of the popular vote in the last 15 elections, the DLC folks point out: LBJ and Carter. And the only Democrats who have won in recent decades, Carter and Clinton, have been Southern Baptists.

The DLC believes the party needs to emphasize values and reform, along with national security. In talking about social issues, From said, "We don't show enough respect for people who might disagree with us."

Al is wrong to ask people to reject MM and MoveOn. Al should tell people the truth about MM and MoveOn.

The truth is they don't represent the old southern Democratic party of the JFK , LBJ era. The very people we need to win elections.

MM and MoveOn represent the young progressive wing of the party, which is not big enough to win.

We keep alienating the old democratic party base and we will keep losing. It's really that simple.

Flame away.

29. Common sense dictates that you reject those who disagree with you,
not those who agree with you.

Some may disagree with some of their views; some may disagree with some of their methods. But Michael Moore and MoveOn are parts of the Democratic/Progressive family, and to summarily dismiss them is foolish in the extreme.
