They got raked over the coals pretty good today by the editorial in the New York Times for their softballing interview (Blitzer) and pathetic defense (Kurtz) of Gannon....

Will the lashing they got be enough to make them come out of the closet on the Gannon story?

Will they silently sit back and lick their wounds?

Will they come out fighting....defending their (indefensible) positions?

--he basically cried about poor Jeffie's abuse at the hands of privacy-invading bloggers who "destroyed" him. he called him a "journalist" or "reporter" 3 times--never mentioned that he was a FAKE journalist.

should have been blown, and both were articulate enough. I didn't note any comment from Kurtz himself at all.

10. You're assuming facts not in evidence

Leslie and Howie, in order to feel the prick of conscience or the goad of remorse must first have a conscience and be responsive to shame. Neither man, in my opinion, has ever felt ashamed in his life, and neither of them seem terribly interested in changing their ways -- after all, they get paid good money not to see things, and if they suddenly start seeing things, the checks might stop.

Although I'm not assuming they would respond out of a fit of conscience, I'm assuming that they would respond out of sheer, unadulterated desire to COVER THIER CORPORATE ASSES!!!

14. Kurtz is still operating under two assumptions:

1) that the public believes he's completely objective

2) that those of us with half a critically thinking brain don't know why he's desperately covering up for Guckert.

You can see the hint of despeartion in his face anytime he discusses it. I think he's quite vulnerable now.
