He got Bill Clinton elected.

That was the first election I voted in, however, I don't remember much about his (re: style, effectiveness, etc.)

1. Very good at winning elections, and that's probably why
he's no longer alive.

I still wonder about that crash.

4. There's tons of conspiracy sites on the web
saying that there was a huge hole in his head from a gunshot.

I have a hard time believing that Clinton had Brown killed.

However, the world gets stranger and stranger by the day.

6. He was an okay old-style DNC chair
if that makes sense. He could slap the right people's backs and be jovial and a lot of fun; he could raise enough money (for those days, and those expectattions); and mostly, IMO, he was one of the good old boys who filled that job on their way to something else or as repayment for services rendered. Did he do any building? Make anything NEW or wonderful happen? I rather doubt it.

AND, he was DLC, remember, so very business friendly -- and went on to be COMMERCE Secty, if you recall.

9. Hi, E!!!!!!!!
:hi:

long time no see!!!!!

Yes, I remember he was Commerce Secretary.

Sort of puts the Bush Admininstration's attempts at equal opportunity to shame -- Clinton put several blacks in his cabinet: a first.

I believe he was Commerce Secretary when he died.

8. He was a great good guy, and I am sorry that he is no longer with us.
He was DNC chair and Secretary of Commerce at a time when African Americans were really beginning to break glass ceilings with a vengeance. This means that he is another African American who helped in removing barriers between races, class and nations.

Ron Brown was also very committed to Education and left a legacy that we can all be proud of.

In fact, we just got word that my senior HS daughter is a current semi finalist as a Ron Brown Scholar. Out of the 5,500 African America students who applied, she is one of the 80 students left...for 20 finalist positions. The scholarships are for $10,000 each. She has two more essays to write and turn in before she is notified.
