Bizzaro World - Bush "support my soc sec plan" ---- but give's no details?
DO you realize how assanine this approach is with the WH?

Everyone has to support a plan in which the WH refuses to give any specific details. What details have been "leaked-trial balloned" have been rightfully debated.

Where the hell is the media with this common sense question?

Mr President - why in the hell do you refuse to give us details and wonder why we won't support your plan?

1. Bush thinks..
... he can still sell a pig in a poke to the American public. He's going to get his ass handed to him on this one, and it will taint the remainder of his sorry-assed term.

2. I agree...WTF is the media asking for GD specifics so there can be debate
as opposed to their agreement to sell "fear".

6. The right controls the information
I'm beginning to loose faith that the American public is even capable of seeing through all this Bush-shit. There is a large segment of our society that actually enjoys being lied to. Check out the group of loosers at

http://www.usmessageboard.com/forums/

These people are so afraid of their little house of cards collapsing that they ban anyone from their site who presents an opinion different from theirs. It is very important to people like this to keep strict control over the information they allow themselves to be exposed to. These are people who don't need to be brainwashed by the government. They do a pretty good job of brainwashing themselves with their nerdy little "I'm alright-you're alright-we're cool....aren't we?" suckfest of a chat group.

I'm afraid that sheep like this are in the majority these days. The only thing we can hope for is that the midterm election will turn the balance of power around.

9. I am not as pessimistic as all that
I don't want to encourage lax-ness at all, but I think the terrain for fighting on Social Security generally favors us right now. If we explain to our friends and others the score, generally they won't support the Bush plan.

3. Great point - Where's the PLAN George?
Never has so much talk ever occurred regarding a "plan" that has yet to be even released publically, if it exists at all.

7. He stops debate by not releasing his assumptions. He stops
debate on the actual plan and leaves the door wide open when he finally does "share". Democrats & Republicans will have been debating something else entirely.

Without good information, you have no power.

The House and Senate need to sue the White House for the information on SS.

12. He never gives details until the last minute, because...
he knows he will get slammed on it. That's his motus operendi. He knows that the various plans, new ideas, restructuring, etc would never float with the American public. So all the non detail details are pumped up and fluffed by the likes of Faux and cnn because they never get any details so they just run one with more blabbery. Then when the time comes for the actual details to be revealed,
"something" happens to distract the public and the bill gets slammed through the repuke rubber stamp congress before anyone can write a congressmen or comeplain. This happens time and time again.

14. he sold us a war with FAKE details.
And the country bought it hook, line and sinker, so I guess he figured this time around, why go thru all the trouble and employed the eminently lazy "because I said so" line of reasoning (like a parent to a child)

15. What do you expect from him?
You can't expect him to be honest and say:

"Support my plan to eliminate Social Security, plus giving my buddies on Wall Street some extra money in the meantime."

Face it, Bush has a hard job. He constantly has to sell programs which virtually nobody would support (other than the few they benefit) if he told the truth. It's not easy to keep coming up with such a constant flow of lies to get support for his policies.

Give the guy the credit he deserves. He manages to come up with fake reasons to support all his policies, which manage to fool about half the country desite having no bearing on what his polices will really do.

(obviously the above was said with considerable sarcasm)

16. By talking SS reform and releasing no details he cause anxiety

in the public. That way people will talk about their worst fears, their boundaries and how hard the will fight. Sociopaths like to 'reality test' their victims to see what system of beliefs they have and how they can be manipulated... they poke and prod to find out what the worst fears are. Perhaps Karl Rove, in no way related to the nefarious types I described in the previous sentence, needs to find out how far he can push Americans before they 'start to bear arms' and 'take to the streets'.
