Nightly News-ABC good 9/11 Clarke/Condi piece - CBS nasty Dean smear.
Edited on Fri Feb-11-05 07:28 PM by Pirate Smile
ABC had a good segment on BushCo's lying and incompetence in following up Clarke's warning in his memo in Jan 2001 to Condi. They stated how BushCo said they had to study this and that the Clinton Administration didn't have a plan to get ride of AQ so they had to develop one - then they showed the Clinton Administration's Plan to destroy AQ (or something to that effect).

CBS did a mocking, nasty piece on Howard Dean. They talked to people worried that he was too "hyper" and said he would only grant an interview if they agreed to not show "the scream" which they then showed. Obviously there was no interview. A snarky, Faux news-type segment.

I just thought I would give a little update about what I saw tonight.

Did anybody see anything else - either good or bad?

6. I understand. I do that too sometimes but when I do see something, I
like to share the info.

The ABC segment was good. CBS has sold out to BushCo - it is really disgusting. They seem scared of their shadow.

14. *sigh* I definitely GET "running out of outrage gas".
I get pretty worn out at all the persistent bullshit and lies and just plain evil!!!

I think all truly passionate compassionates run out of fuel from time to time.

5. I'm on the west coast, and I appreciate the advance notice
We are basic cable only (no CNN, etc.), so we usually watch PBS newshour, but I'll tune in to see ABC tonight.

Thanks!

12. I remeber CBS ev. news really ripping Dean during the primaries.
It was a piece by Jim Axelrod, and it really seemed like some of the nastiest, most infantile stuff you ever heard in junior high school.

29. I saw the piece and thought it was very juvenile, CBS of all msm
should not castigate anyone. I suppose their suck up is to keep them in good graces with Your Majesty and the evildoers but it want work. CBS is slated for the basement as soon as space is available down there.

20. The local bobbleheads replayed the
cherrypicked video of the "Dean scream" today.

I shut them off and will get my weather forecast from the web from now on.

Whores.

This is going to backfire. It was so poor that I can't even describe it!

The old man they showed getting into the scream clearly enjoyed it!

23. Christ. Which genius thought of that approach?
Making the interview conditional on the scream? That's like saying, "Play the scream a hundred times and then say how afraid we are of people seeing it."

Let them show the scream if they want to. The idea is to have every suurogate and spokesperson call them on it on the air, right on their shows. Ask them why they keep playing a doctored video?
Ask them if they keep playing the video becase they can't think of anything less cliched to go after dean with or if they simply always do the bidding of the GOP?

Every Dem webste should make the actual video available.

24. I've been getting happier with ABC lately
Edited on Fri Feb-11-05 08:22 PM by ginnyinWI
It's clearly better than cable news. George Stephanopolis asked the hardest questions of Rumsfeld last Sunday, out of four appearances. Nightline has had good, Dem-friendly programs on Iraq and the Sudanese refugee crisis lately. :)

I perceive CBS to be fatally cowed due to Rathergate. :(

I'm talking about the regular 3 channels, not cable like Olberman or The Daily Show, of course.

27. Double Standard
If Dean, who seemed very sensible, articulate and reasonable on MTP a few weeks ago is too hyper to lead the party, shouldn't they have spoken against an aggressively hyper, inarticulate, hyper debator at the second Presidential debate last year.
