Mangate A link between Hannity/Gannon/Rather Memo story
http://mediamatters.org/items/200502100001

HANNITY: Now, Jeff Gannon, who is a terrific Washington bureau chief and White House correspondent for Talon News, actually shot me an e-mail today, and he's about to break a story in an exclusive about these CBS documents.
Gee, Sean it sucks when they have you on tape.

This could be traced right back to the White House and has the
potential to take * down. Gannon was a White House stooge .... now how did
he know about the blogger's having a story about Rather having "fake" documents?
We know that Creative Response Concepts helped in both the Swift Boat slime job
and the Rather job ...... where does Mr. Gannon come in?

We now have the power to "frame the debate" and bypass the MSM
which is now running from this story. :tinfoilhat:

1. WOW WOW WOW!!!
This is actually VERY IMPORTANT!!! Wonder if the lamestream media will pick up on it???

I'm not holding my breath, but I would have to say that Mr. Gannon, nee Guckert appears to be the WEAKEST LINK. I imagine that there are a shitload of "fair and balanced" journalists who are SWEATING the relationship, big time!!!

Jimmy-Jeff, you are the weakest link--goodbye!!!

2. I watched ABC, CBS, & NBC
Last night and none of them touched Mangate. CNN w/ Wolf & Howard Kurtz
all but had checks from Karl Rove sticking out of their pockets. Cover up

V. Plame outing could also go back to Gannon then to the White House.

13. This is where we we've been failing ....
Here we find a clear lie by the WH and no one is talking about it. Can anyone say LIAR when it's undisputable? Where are our leaders, pundits, ... someone speaking for Dems and Independents?

McClellan LIED! The facts are easy to check and of course the very journalists and news outlets that are being undermined don't have the guts to call them out on it.

Talon news came online and 5 DAYS later Gannon had his WH pass. Like WOW what a fast security check they did on Gannon! He's not a journalist unless a $50 weekend seminar makes you a journalist to the WH. Gannon had no previous journalistic credentials, record, or experience. Journalists are supposed to represent established news outlets. I didn't know 5 DAYS established one to the WH.

Others in the Press Corp. saw Gannon with a permanent Press pass.

Yet no one can bring up the truth. What country do we live in?

Where are the Dems????????? Why do we let them continue to LIE???

20. "Letters" OHHH- Bush/meida is shaking now- they sent "Letters!!"
They can send "letters" all they want- they need to go ON TV and say "Bush pays the media to lie for him."

DEMS are IDIOTS if they think "sending a letter" will do the job. Did the GOP "Send letters" when they attacked Clinton? NO- they went ON TV and called him a "liar" and every other name in the book.

WHO is refusing to give live interviews to Kerry, Hillary, Obama or Dean and WHO is twisting their arms and telling them not to talk about this?

Stop blaming the media and start thinking outside the box.

9. Yes, Botany, you are right on all counts. This is VERY big.
I also wonder whether Jimmy-Jeff Gannon-Guckert's sideline of pimping military prostitutes will tie in somewhere. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he had some very high-placed customers for his "escort service," which is, of course illegal. I can't see his being chosen for his cushy position as just a random pick from all the wannabe Rethug shills. I strongly suspect a connection.

If the current attempt to suppress the significant facts in this story in the corporate media fails, Jimmy-Jeff better watch out. The next strategy will be to arrange for him to take the fall. But it's hard to see how he can be fingered as acting alone or with the connivance only of low-level WH personnel, because the access to the top-secret Plame info and the waiving of security checks clearly imply someone at a very high level was pulling strings.

And good luck with the "Mangate" name. There's also "ManDateGate" and even "ManDateBaitGate," but I suspect they wouldn't catch on...

not come from the WH. Rove leaked it to Gannon, and Novak got it from him (knowing it really came from the Pillsbury Roveboy's mouth originally.)

4. The story will die in a few days- unless top DEMS start making "hot" noise
Edited on Fri Feb-11-05 06:18 PM by Dr Fate
On TV, every night.

Kerry, Hillary, Obama, Reid, Bill Clinton, John Edwards, Kennedy, all need to request primetime interviews and accuse Bush of "Paying the media to lie for him."

They need to "raise questions" and "demand an investigation" and ask the interviewer "why arent you covering this- why do *I* have to come on and bring it up?"

Otherwise, there is no way the media will run stories about how it lies for Bush.

DEMS- not fucking pundits, but top, household name DEMS need to make noise about this- or it will die.

25. To answer Dr. Fate's question in post 4 -
We need to get this to top Dems, correct?

To Lautenberg, maybe?

Maybe with some noise and heat around it?

What about organizing a demonstration - AT HIS OFFICE? Any DUers here live anywhere near it? Or, frankly, ANYBODY'S office who has clout, or has shown guts.

If so, it would have to look camera-friendly:

EVERYONE WHO ATTENDED MUST DRESS NICELY. No funky stuff - everyone has to look as though they've come straight out of some nice respectable office nearby.

We'd need a lot of people in attendance to attract attention. A handful won't be taken seriously.

And we'd need others, in advance, notifying the local media, and secondarily then, national media. If Air America is operating in that area, is there anyone there who could cover it from the local station? ANYONE at all? (Don't know if they'd even have a staff to provide local news inserts, though.)

Once there, some of our people at the presentation should have their own digital cameras or phone-cameras, so this could be documented and photos and details posted online. Once online, it should be sent to Keith Olbermann and the Air America people.

Then, we'd have to have follow-up.

That's the only thing I can think of at the moment. DAMN - this is the clincher - getting it out there. AND we have to think in terms of someone IN ADDITION TO an already stand-out voice like Barbara Boxer's. There is the slight danger of loading her up, and if she continues to stand alone, there's a risk she'll be dismissed as "the lone Senate crackpot." That would, in the long run, blunt any further impact she'd have. That's not something we could afford to do.

Anybody locally within the Democracy for America organization? They're the Howard Dean people. They're the ones with the momentum and the luster now, because of Dean's ascendance. Maybe if some of them are feeling their oats, THIS might be the way to go. Might be a good second-day lead on the Dean/DNC story, thereby more easily earning coverage on a wider scale.

Just some thoughts, anyway...

24. Some computer whiz kid
...with great capabilities and talent needs to get those c-span tapes (I understand some clever wag has compiled them, somewhere on the web) and see if they can first, determine if credentials are visible around the neck of said faux journalist, and second, see if they can enlarge those credentials sufficiently so that we can determine if they are a day pass or a permanent pass.

I think the day pass/permanent pass thing is the second weak link in all this, with "loose cannon" Gannon/Guckert himself being the first. If it can be determined that Scott McClellan lied about that press pass, than we know (as we know when his lips are moving) that he has lied about other aspects of this as well. And he can't play the "I misspoke" game if his response turns out to be false, and it is proven that this clown was issued a permanent pass. He understood the import of the question, he understood the gravity of the issue and the significance of the question.

Maybe it is time for our elected representatives to start having a looky-looky at the sign-in sheets to the WH (we remember those, don't we--boy, they scoured those for ole Monica's name after she was shifted over to the Pentagon to work for Ken Bacon, didn't they?). Were all of Mr. Guckert's meetings with WH officials held near the old indoor swimming pool (the press room), on the days that he supposedly got day passes? Or was he ever given access to the West Wing, to Karl's office, or Andy's office, or who knows whose office?

You know, I am not familiar with correspondence control procedures at the White House, but I have a very strong feeling that administration officials do not routinely wander around the press area, which is full of both US and foreign correspondents, most without clearances of any sort, with folders of classified documents wedged under their armpits. I'll bet these documents are kept in clearly marked folders, brightly colored, just to be sure that no one forgets to put them away in a locked safe at night.

And I'm guessing that ole Mohammed Guckert had to go to the Mountain Rove to have a look-see at them.

As for the Gannon-Novak connection, that's going to require some forensic examination of the lad's writings. Does Gannon mention Novak at all in his published rantings? Or vice-versa? Sometimes people just can't HELP but shoot their mouths off.

Where are the 21st Century Woodwards and Bernsteins? Obviously, not working for the lamestream media...they're somewhere out there in cyberspace!

29. Gannon--Novak
I'm not sure where I heard this... either Mike Malloy or Randi Rhodes. BUT, Gannon was interviewing Joe Wilson and asked him straight up about his wife. He knew her name and that she was covert CIA. Wilson about fell out of his chair. This was BEFORE Novak wrote the article. So, Gannon knew of Valerie Plame first, or at least before the original article by Novak. I think they (Mike or Randi) had gotten this info off of Daily KOS...

Sorry if you all have already heard this. I found it very interesting...

Also, I hope someone is investigating who else has attended and graduated from the phony journalist "Leadership Institute" place. Might lead us to some more Bush-paid propagandists/faux journalists.

What's Hannity's Connection To Jeff Gannon?

It was reported yesterday February 18 by Raw Story that Jaff Gannon bragged to Free Republic that he fed information to Hannity on September 10 about Mary Mapes which would discredit Dan Rather's sources on the National Guard story. Hannity started his all out assault on Rather and CBS on the same date.
