RE: The Jeff Gannon Controversy - A Primer for the Press or Beginners

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/2/10/224122/709

* Media Instructions (4.00 / 12)

This is just an initial release which was necessary to get some of the very critical facts out there.

Please take one moment and visit Media Blaster and either send your local media a link to the .pdf or copy the text from the diary and send it.

Preferably, we would like to have this faxed to as many media outlets as possible.

Also, make sure to pass it along to your Congressmen, noting that you are a constituent who is requesting that they invetigate the matter.

We'd appreciate if you can post where you have sent it, so that we may alter our media target accordingly.

Thanks again for all your help with this.

2. I guess they had to do something proactive. If they fax the news
I guess they had to do something proactive. If they fax the news organizations with updates - the news organizations cannot claim to know nothing. The ball is in their courts - as it were.

7. What is an eye-opener is the responce of the conservatives
What is an eye-opener is the responce of the conservatives on the Bulletin Board below. They sound just as downtrodden as we do.

I can see it now ... George Bush's dosage goes up - way up. Pretty soon they will have to wheel him in (but they will say it is very Rooseveltesque).

8. I have a question about the MSM
With obvious exceptions, they seem to delight in NOT reporting that which is discovered by Internet investigators.

My serious question is - is it because they look down their nose at this information as being produced by "upstarts"?

Is it because they didn't get it first? Which is difficult for me to understand, because of the bandwagon mentality they have on every other issue.

Do they feel that sites like DailyKos are a threat to them - and therefore any news that comes from them should be ignored to negate their credibility?

Without the typical "right-wing" control rhetoric that people bandy about here in relation to the media - what do you SERIOUSLY feel is the reason?

I am so happy that they have decided to issue a press release. For some reason, it seems like a key move for them - and I don't know why. Any thoughts?

9. All of the above, plus:
The fact that a bunch of political junkies on boards such as DU and DailyKos, unpaid and usually untrained, can use only the internet and their own wiles to uncover BIG lies, cover-ups, and illegal deeds makes their lazy, PR from the AEI and Heritage Foundation parroting, overpaid asses look shameful.

They fear the bloggers big time, and it's no small wonder.

If you're interested in what's wrong with the press, may I suggest you read the following?

"The Republican Noise Machine" David Brock
"Big Lies" Eric Alterman
"Attack Poodles" James Wolcott (this is a light, hilarious, fast read and a great intro to the other two. If you have yet to read Wolcott, our very own LW Louella Parsons, check out his site here:

11. Thank you Kos & Bloggers
Since the 'media' has abandoned truth and vigilance for corporatism and complicity, you provide an invaluable service and this nation's citizens owe you their gratitude. To think you have done more for America than the MSM on a shoestring budget is a marvel to behold.
Keep on keepin' on.

How he came about the Valerie Plame and 'rathergate'info needs to be explored.

12. I wish they'd gotten a pro to write this release
Because I believe any journo is going to stop reading by the second or third paragraph. It's muddy.
