Bush's Enron Budget

It is amazing to me that G W Bush has put forth a budget that would make his buddy Ken Lay proud. He hides expense in off book accounts such as the costs of the war in Iraq, the cost of privatization of Social Security.

Additionally, he is over stating revenues in the way of overstating the actual reduction in expense that his cuts will produce. The budget also counts over 1 billion dollars from drilling in ANWAR. Only one problem with that, the congress has not authorized drilling in ANWAR. No drilling means no revenues. Ken and Jeff must be proud of their little boy.

Then there is the fact that his pledge to cut the deficit in half is with cooked numbers. He is basing that on the projected deficit from last year which was about 200 billion larger than the actual deficit. Compounding that is that he is not including his main policy initiatives.

Bush is cooking his books just like his friends Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling did at Enron.
