For what it’s worth: No “Gannon,” no “Talon News,” no nothin’!
I’m a librarian and I just consulted our standard reference source for the news media.

News Media Yellow Book: Who’s who among reporters, writers, editors and producers in the leading national news media. New York and Washington, DC: Leadership Directories, Inc. Spring 2005

This is a 1,290 page directory. I looked in the “Name Index:” no “Jeff Gannon;" I looked in the “Media Index:” no “Talon News;” I looked in the “Assignment Index” under “White House;” no “Jeff Gannon.”

This is perhaps the definitive directory for this kind of information.

So who is this “Jeff Gannon?” Where is “Talon News?” And how did he ever get security clearance as a White House reporter?

1. Check "James 'JD' Guckert"
I highly doubt that he'll be in there anyway...but Gannon is not his real name.

Talon news has a 281 area code, this would put it in Houston. ---Was Gannon one of the Swift boat vets or does he just like the Village People?

5. Can you spell Karl Roverer?
I think a guy like "Gannon" is perfect.

If he is detected as a plant the MSM will be easily deflected onto apparently rewarding topics of prostitution, homosexuality etc.

The story will become about discrediting Gannon, it shouldn't. The real path that needs development, as you and several other DUers have pointed out, is how did this guy get a daily credential to enter the White House press room?

Not only payola. THe payola might have come from some GOPer but the access takes the media manipulation right into the Whitehouse.

7. Exactly!!!!!
The real story isn't the sordid (and hilarious) details about Gannon. It's about the illegal behavior of people in the White House. Period.

10. forgive my pure speculation here
but considering what Gannon and Rove have in common (pseudo-macho-military- Village People thing), I just have to wonder....maybe his WH press clearance is from his man-date Rove?
Hotmilitarystud.com
Militaryescorts.com
Militaryescortsm4m.com

Karl Rove, recalling his first meeting with dubya "sounding like a breathless schoolgirl describing her first big crush. "I can literally remember what he was wearing" said Rove. "An Air National Guard Flight jacket, cowboy boots, blue jeans, complete with-in Texas you see it alot-one of the back pockets will have a circle worn in the pocket from where you carry your tin of snuff, your tin of tobacco. He was exuding more charisma than any one individual should be allowed to have"

www.gopusa.com apparently uses them for news. (surprise, surprise.)

Also, http://www.mensnewsdaily.com/, a particularly ugly looing website. Sort of like Drudge, very busy.

20. Here's the talonnews.com statement about Gannon
Statement concerning former Washington, DC correspondent Jeff Gannon

Talon News Washington, DC reporter and White House Correspondent Jeff Gannon submitted his resignation from our organization effective February 8, 2005.

I understand and support Jeff's decision, and have accepted the resignation.

We are currently evaluating candidates to fill this critical assignment, and anticipate minimal interruption of Talon's coverage of our nation's capitol and the White House in the meantime.

21. "Robert R. Eberle, Ph.D???"
I just checked OCLC for his dissertation; no luck. OCLC is a national/international database for books, magazines, etc, and includes dissertations/thesis. If "Dr. Eberle" has written a dissertation (and one supposes he has since he holds a Ph.D.) then it should be here, but I found nothing.

I have to ask: What is his Ph.D. in?, and considering that "Jeff Gannon" is a fake, maybe "Robert R. Eberle, Ph.D" is as well...?

______
Just to check my searching abilities, I did find Al Gore's thesis (as well as my own):

The impact of television on the conduct of the presidency, 1947-1969 a thesis /
Author: Gore, Albert, 1948- Publication: 1969
