Minister of Propaganda issues new “hot button” phrase: “Archfoe Iran"
Perhaps in preparing us for war with Iran, Bush's Minister of Propaganda must have informed the media to use “archfoe” when referring to Iran:

Kay Warns U.S. Not to Repeat Iraq Mistakes in Iran

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. official who declared the White House's hunt for illicit weapons in Iraq (news - web sites) to be a failure driven by faulty intelligence has warned the Bush administration against repeating its mistakes in the current war of words with arch-foe Iran
.

and…

Iran and US in 'heated exchange' at Saudi anti-terror meet: report

AFP: 2/7/2005
RIYADH, Feb 7 (AFP) - Delegates from the United States and archfoe Iran engaged in a "heated" exchange at a counter-terrorism conference in Saudi Arabia, the local media reported Monday, but a US official insisted the encounter was "professional."

So, no longer will we see just “Iran” but “archfoe Iran.” And in the first paragraph too!

5. I wish that I could share your optimism, but I come into contact
with too many people who still think all of this warmongering shit is a swell idea, and who still expect me to hate the French. Coming to grips with any semblance of truth or reality just doesn't seem to be on their agendas.

13. Same here, tnlefty. I'm in VA, and believe me, these idiots
aren't even having a second thought yet. Their balls are all atwitter at the idea of perpetual war -- shit, Martha, it's like Xbox all the time! --I just jumped all over someone last week who dissed the French -- I reminded him that thousands of people in the French underground died in agony to help stop the Nazis, and I didn't appreciate the sullying of their memory by such cheap shots. Especially when the current crop of U.S. warmongers won't even participate in the wars they love so very, very much.

3. Wow. And I thought Superman died when Christopher Reeves did.
Edited on Mon Feb-07-05 03:33 PM by JohnOneillsMemory
That was the actual headline I saw on that sad day:

"Superman is Dead." Even that sad day was spun into fear-based government.

According to Richard Clarke's book, we've been at war with Iran since 1979.

Oil Oil Oil. Caspian Sea Oil. Domestic politics will merely be the propaganda ripples from the oil war waves out of sight for our lifetimes.

4. uck - This sounds more and more like a Batman tv rerun, complete with
the guy who was the voice/announcer on the show... can't you just hear the music? (na na na na na na na na ::Bat-man!::) The next bush spokespiece steps to the mike...

Truly, this admin becomes more cartoonish by the hour.

7. "Kay Warns U.S. Not to Repeat Iraq Mistakes in Iran"
Not to worry. Even the most diehard of the Dim Son's true believers would have
a hard time buying a repeat of the mistakes made in Iraq.

I'm quite sure Shrubco will be coming up with a new list of "mistakes" for Iran.

8. Who made up that phrase,
the reporters or the White House?

Dumb phrase, either way. Not that Iran is our best buddy.

14. You, see Candle_Bright, it works like this:
The "Axis of Evil" is the supervillain group, analagous to the "League of Bad Intentions".

Now, all of their members are bad, bad, evil, bad. Thus, stating that one is a member of the "Axis of Evil"/"League of Bad Intentions" is akin to saying they are an enemy of good.

However, this does not make them an arch-enemy. For example, The Rhino was most definately a member of the Sinister Six, however he was nothing close to Spider-Man's "arch-enemy" (guffaw, <shot of asthma inhalant>, snort). For in fact, the arch-enemy may or may not be a member of the aforenamed Super Villain group i.e. The Green Goblin was largely a sole proprietor of evil, and not a member of a "super team of villainy".

Therefore, is not wholly specious to proclaim Iran our arch-enemy even though we have first chosen to disarm our lesser foes (perhaps our "petit-ememies") like Iraq. This fits to form, much as Spidey might choose to debilitate his lesser foes (i.e. Electro or Will o' The Wisp) prior to "le grade conflagration" against a more powerful opponent, such as The Iranian Goblin.

So, you see, it's all very plausible and believable.

I have no idea what in the hell all that means.
