Strange coincidence?
This year Time magazine selected President Bush as the man of the year. In 1980 it was Ayatollah Khomeini. There is a similarity in these choices. Khomeini was the leader of the religious right who came to power to bring morality to his country (Iran). President Bush also is a religious man (born-again Christian) who wants to bring morality to this country.
For Khomeini immorality was when a woman shows her hair. For Mr. Bush immorality is abortion. But it was perfectly moral for Khomeini to order the killing of thousands of innocent young men and women. For President Bush it is also moral to invade a country with false pretenses and kill tens of thousands of Iraqis and thousands of Americans.
There is a passage in the Koran that says, "When God wanted to destroy a nation or a system, he let the people choose the unwise and unjust leaders, then they did the destroying." In the case of Khomeini, Hitler, Stalin, all men of the year, and hundreds others, this prophecy came true.
In the case of our president, all I know is he does not believe in the Koran.
