Still more CNN "reporting" (this is getting ridiculous!)
First, it was this.

Now...

"BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Preliminary results from Iraq's election released Friday show that the predominantly Shiite Muslim south backed the party of Iraq's top Shiite cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, over the secular party of interim Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi.

Officials haven't tallied results yet from Iraq's Sunni and Kurdish areas, and the Independent Electoral Commission of Iraq cautioned the early data on how the Shiite region voted cannot be used to interpret the final election results because of the skewed demographics."

Well, of COURSE the "Shiite bloc takes lead in Iraqi election results," they're the only ones that have been counted! Good lord.

1. Didn't they do this in Ohio?
I seem to remember they had a bunch of precincts and abentee ballots (thought to favor Kerry) still to count, but they declared * the winner because it was supposedly "mathematically impossible" for Kerry to surmount the boy-king's lead.

Pentagon sites: Journalism or propaganda?

Friday, February 4, 2005 Posted: 12:41 PM EST (1741 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. Department of Defense plans to add more sites on the Internet to provide information to a global audience -- but critics question whether the Pentagon is violating President Bush's pledge not to pay journalists to promote his policies.

The Defense Department has hired more than 50 freelance writers for the sites.

At first glance, the Web pages appear to be independent news sites. To find out who is actually behind the content, a visitor would have to click on a small link -- at the bottom of the page -- to a disclaimer, which says, in part, that the site is "sponsored by" the U.S. Department of Defense.
