OK Dean is going to get the chair!!!! YEA!!!!!!
What issue do we use we start shooting @ each other over now?

OR

Can we get to work on some issues. WE haven't had any Media Blasts since the election.

What will be DU's main focus and key issues? What do we start working on as a group to prove that communicating on a message board or blogging is an action based medium.

We say a lot but we don't do a lot other than beat each other over the head.

So, what will we do now? Suggestions?

For those of you who don't like me or my posts no need to reply, simply put me on Ignore please. Thanks X

4. Funny Cartoon
I saw a few days ago, don't remember what paper or who the author was. A bunch of donkeys were sitting around a table in a bar drinking and looking very sad. The bartender is holding the phone saying its Howard Dean and its for one of you. One of the donkeys says don't answer that "he'll want us to do stuff."

I like your posts.

13. Only when you start threads titled:
"O.K.....am I the only one here that thinks Dean is not the best choice?"

And then proceed to post this non sequitur:

Reading all of the blogs...it looks like Dean has a "Big" following.
I really think we need a different face for the Dems. I said this on another post...
DEAN IS TOO "NOW"..WE NEED "NEW"!!!!

You don't understand why people are "touchy"?

15. Prioritize and Activate.
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 10:26 AM by Just Me
There are so many areas the neoCONs are destroying that we need to prioritize.

The Senate is preparing to vote for an USAG nominee who advocated that this president could break international law and who has indicated that this president can break our laws. I don't want an USAG that supports corporate and military tyranny over the rule of law.

We have an administration that has intentionally engaged in a pattern of deception against the American people. This administration has sponsored taxpayer-funded, deceptive/manipulative, government-created propaganda. Such behavior is repulsive and an outrage.

We have an administration that intends to execute a NO EXIT STRATEGY in the Middle East and is willing to incite another world war.

We have an administration fully prepared to destroy our economy.

We have an administration preparing to destroy our system of compassion for the oppressed, aged and unfortunate among our people.

Basically, we have ourselves an administration obsessed with destroying everything we have come to value about our country.

P.S. I enjoy your posts!!

21. Need a strategy to show a groundswell of support for Dean
For example:

1) Don't give any contributions to DNC until Dean sends out his first letter asking for donations -- then everybody give money, even if it's just $10, so it proves that millions of people are listening to Dean and will back him up with $.

2) Send e-mails to DNC when Dean victory is announcing, saying "I will do anything to support the Party now that Dean is doing the driving"

Other stuff???????

38. Maybe Skinner will let you put something at the top of certain threads
You know, like they did with the tsumani relief agencies at the top of "General Discussion". When Dean gets the job and comes out with his first request for donations, maybe Skinner would allow you to put a message at the top of a couple of boards that would provide the link to the DNC site.

Having it "fixed in place" at the top would let everyone see it. A lot of action-oriented posts get lost on DU -- if people don't keep them kicked, they sink like a rock. Look at this one I did today: Only three responses and it's on page 2 already:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1552474

(by the way, I wouldn't mind if you gave it a kick!)

I really like the thought behind your original post: It was very action-oriented, which I personally would like to see more of on DU. I've got to keep an eye out for your posts from now on.

22. Attempting to pierce the noise in this thread...

From Democracynow.org headlines 2/1/05:

NAACP Refuses to Cooperate With IRS Over Probe
The NAACP announced Monday that it is refusing to cooperate with the Internal Revenue Service as the agency investigates whether the nation's oldest civil rights organization violated its tax-exempt status by criticizing President Bush. The IRS announced its probe weeks before November's presidential election. NAACP's interim president Dennis Hayes said the probe "was clearly motivated by partisan politics and intended to divert us from impartial voter registration." The IRS launched the investigation after NAACP Chairman Julian Bond gave a speech criticizing President Bush's war, economic and educational policies. The IRS claims Bond may have violated federal regulations that bar certain tax-exempt organizations from engaging in political activity.

I feel it is imperative that the unsound influence of the extreme right fundie political machine be throttled. What the IRS is attacking the NAACP for is what Dobson and Robertson and Falwell and others do everyday.

Naturally, this is just one of many struggles, but the partisan fundie political machine presents a formidible and effective extremist policy advocacy aparatus. One that must be curtailed in the name of peace.

28. SInce you threw the issue out there, I will take this opportunity to say
I like you and I love your posts.

I often say, "Hey, that person thinks like I do...Thank God" when I read them.

To your post, I hope we can get down to the important business of raising questions about the moderate rationale that the party establishment seems to have taken.

If Dean gets the chair, I will consider that an important battle won.

However, I won't be satisfied until the Party stands up for progressive ideals and mounts a principled and unyielding opposition to the Republican Party.

To summarize, we are still playing too nice, and still allowing appeasing DLC corporate politicians to decide what is acceptable political debate in the Democratic Party.

I want the Democratic Party to represent real progressives.

30. Thanks for the kind words....so what can we do actively to help the party
represent our progressive roots.

I would like to get maybe 10 items that I can put in a poll to get people to vote on. WE'll take the top three as our first actions under Dean as the DNC chair.

But I don't want cyber actions. I want something real that I an see and say hey, we did that.

Cuz, honestly. We as in DU didn't get Dean the DNC chair. None of the senseless fighting and bikering on DU helped Dean get the chair.

I'd like to take some of that energy we used on each other and use it out in the real world for a change.

So...I like the one thing the post about sending money to the DNC after Dean is elected and seated.

37. I want us to actively lobby for a seat at the table.
I think Dean is sensitive to the online community's desire to be a part of the process.

Amazingly, the conservative leadership seems to have a better relationship with their segment of the online community that we have with ours.

If Dean gets in (and I'm waiting until he is seated, having started drinking a bit too early on election night), I feel that perhaps some of us DC area people should try to organize a meeting where we get to air our concerns.

I think Dean is sensitive to those concerns and will fight for many progressive ideas and get them into the agenda.

40. I'd think if we got some people together, asked for an appointment...
we could probably call up and get our foot in the door.

I think DU has some credibility at this point as far as the online world is concerned.

If Skinner called up the DNC and asked to talk to someone about coordinating strategy and message with the online world, I'm sure that something could be arranged.

People seem to be taking Kos seriously...that's not a big leap from DU, but DU could probably use a spokesperson like Kos that represents the whole fairly well.

I'd have to say the only people that come to mind are Skinner and William Rivers Pitt.

It's simple. I just want the head of the DNC to be one crazy mother who makes so damn much noise that the media cannot ignore them. I want the person to be on the news more than Bush and SpongeBob. I want the person to insult Bush and the Republicans and call a spade a spade. I want him/her on the front of news magazines. I want more than the goddamn deadly silence we heard for 4 deafening years. I want someone wo isn't just a sanitary napkin for the Republicans. Now....about your post.
