Condi for President/VP!! You can count on it!...
Edited on Mon Jan-31-05 09:57 PM by jg82567
... Listening to the spin coming from the right these days, it's clear that their next target is the African-American vote. Every other one-time Democratic constituency has gradually shifted to the Republican party. The only one that has consistently held out is Black voters and with good reason ('southern strategy", suppression of Black votes, etc.).

They can't continue to count on the schemes and supression tactics of Karl Rove to keep us from voting, at some point they will have to get Blacks to vote for them to keep winning. They have already said their goal for 2008 is 30% of the Black vote and I think we now know, as crazy as it may seem today, that we can't put anything past them and their propaganda machine. They will tell any lie they need to tell and count on short memories and dis/misinformation to get their way and have been very successful at it.

Which brings me back to Condi...she has proven her unquestioning loyalty to Bush, PNAC, imperialism, etc., they know they can trust her to betray her people, her country, her integrity, and herself in the service of the Republican agenda and her own ambition. What better way to say to the average Black person, (i.e.,not someone who is a political junkie or activist who's on message boards and reading all the lastest news items and keeping up with all the lies, but the average Black voter) who, like the averge White person, is busy with life and only getting bits and pieces of information - what better way to say "what have the Democrats done for you lately?" and "look what WE are doing NOW!" You have been loyal to their party and they take you for granted, look what WE can do for you if you join up with us!

I'm willing to bet my house that Condi will be on the ticket one way or the other in 2008. The Republicans have a habit of doing bold, audacious things and that would certainly qualify, and they WILL GET their 30% of the Black vote. They got 11-12% this time with all the dirt they have done, imagine if a Black woman is the VP nominee on thier ticket?

Having said all that, there is only one African-American political figure out there now who has shown an ability to get white votes and broad support accross racial and partisan political lines and that is Barack Obama. Now I have the same reservations about 2008 being too soon for him as others have expressed, but, I guarantee, if my hunch about Condi is right, the Democrats may not have much of a choice.

1. There are certain Christian fanatics
that will never, never, never vote for a black person. And you can't believe how racist the South still is until you live there. I don't think they'll risk it.

10. Christian Fanatics?
Sure, I'll grant that lots of racists are also fundamentalist Christians, but they're not racist because they're Christian--correlation vs causation. I would definatly say that most Christians, even hardcore fundamentalists, aren't racist. Sure, there are a few wackos with churches that are anti-black, but they're so far out of the mainstream that they don't even make up any kind of real block even within the fundamentalist Christian community.

You can accuse fundies of lots of bad things; you can call them intolerant and anti-gay, but most of them are probably not racists, and even the ones that are aren't racist because of their religion.

11. i think that the brainwashing/spell that...
their propaganda machine has been weaving for the last 30 years is such that all they have to do is start up the talking points and their followers will blindly go along...look at everything else they've gotten away with...the sheeple will do what they're told...

Dick Morris Exclusive: It's Condi vs. Hillary in 2008

The sheep will do what ever the party tells them to do.

2. Would the Republican base ever nominate a black woman?
Somehow I doubt it, with ol' Man-on-Dog and Lunatic Cat-Slayer on the ballot.

3. Can youimagine her on the
campaign trail? She won't be able to remember what she said from city to city.....and then deny or change what she said the day before.

4. I welcome it
I think it gives us the green light to nominate a real lefty to tear her to shreds.

5. I hope they do not nominate Condi in 2008, cuz we have not even
nominated a black man for VICE president yet. If the repugs
nominate Condi for president in 2008, I am willing to bet
any money 25% or more of the blacks will pull the lever for
her. But I believe it will be either Jeb or Arnold (assuming
the amendment to constitution passes).

15. From what I have seen and read, blacks were offended by
criticism of Condi as someone who was not qualified for
secretary of state. That was an inane and stupid rhetoric.
Instead, it would have been smart politics to "praise"
Condi which then takes away any political points the repubs
gained in black community.

12. Seems the Democrats can't get it through their heads that Blacks
are unhappy with the back seat that they have relegated them to. They toss out a well sucked bone and then stop by the Sunday service when they want votes every 2/4 years and then nothing. Believe it/not the repubs will do anything to win and if it means nominating Condi/some other Black repub they will do it and yes a sizable number of Blacks will vote for them. Democrats will still be saying the nation or better yet the South is not ready and the repubs will have a Black in office regardless of whether you think they are being used to further their agenda. Democrats are asleep on everything else so are fast asleep on this one. If Condi is successful in this position(lies albeit)you better believe the repubs will come a calling to Blacks and they will answer.

14. As I said elsewhere, they'd lose their Southern base
A lot of "good, decent" white folk Repukes here who tolerate Condi as long as she's doin' Massa's biddin', would rather eat a dog turd than vote for a black woman for Prez.

Yeah, they'd probably pick up some of the black voters -- the same ones like Armstrong Williams that voted for them this time, plus a few more. But not enough to counter the white voters they'd lose.

In short, I HOPE THEY TRY IT.

16. Frist of Tennessee - Pres
and Condi - VP would hold the crackers in place, draw 25% of the black vote, and obliterate the Democrats as we know them, maybe forever.

It would serve the Dems right, too, for waiting so G-d-damned long to get on the stick and start acknowledging their most loyal supporters.

Remember, they had a SOUTHERN, black, statewide office holder make a run for the presidency in 1992 (no, not Clinton: VA Governor Doug Wilder), let his candidacy die quickly, and never even toyed with the idea of another black on the national ticket since.

Had Obama not come along, helped by the implosion of his opponent's campaign over a weird sex scandal, the Democrats would have no realistic name to even consider in '08. Given the recency of Obama's election, he himself may not be a realistic option either. Two decades after Jesse Jackson's first run, that is just fucking ridiculous!

What They're Saying About Condi

"The most powerful woman in the world."

-Forbes Magazine

"She is not only a brilliant person, she is an experienced person. She is a good manager. I trust her judgment. America will find that she is a wise person."

-President George W. Bush

"A powerful, successful Republican role model such as Condoleezza Rice could show young blacks an alternative to dependency on Democrats."

-Lowell Ponte, Columnist

"If the GOP candidate were a woman as well, she (Hillary Clinton) ’d have to run on merit, not on ‘I’m a woman hear me roar. I think Condi would beat Hillary handily,"

-GOP strategist Cheri Jacobus

"She is exceedingly smart, genuinely confident, and has all the power, without the ego."

-Oprah Winfrey

"The emergence of Condoleezza Rice as the Republican presidential nominee in 2008 would necessitate a complete reevaluation of the principles and philosophies that heretofore guided the voting patterns for millions of Americans. Her victory would be the catalyst for a revolutionary change in the national body politic. That is why Condoleezza Rice is best for America."

-Columnist Tom Dondlinger
</snip>

There you have it, enough votes there for a "mandate"
She plays the piano too you know.

19. Unca Dick is feelin' poorly. He may have an early exit because of health
reasons. Two years from now the coporate whores would have built Condi up in the eyes of the public and she'll have no problem taking his place as VP.
