Wow!! Article 1/11/05 US and Iraq All Set for Strike against Syria
snip

EBKAfile’s counter-terror sources report that the Iran-sponsored Hizballah’s attack on an Israeli convoy patrolling the disputed Shebaa Farms sector, killing an Israeli officer, on Palestinian election-day, Sunday, January 9, was addressed as much to President George W. Bush as to the new Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas as a foretaste of what it has in store.

8. Hand over to US or Iraqi authorities 55 top officials and military officers of the former Saddam regime, who are confirmed by intelligence to be established in Syria and running the guerrilla war in Iraq out of their homes and offices.

(An address, telephone number and cell phone number were listed beside each name).

But the punchline was in the last demand.

9. Syria had better make sure that none of the Kornet AT-14 anti-tank missiles which it recently purchased in large quantities from East Europe turn up in Iraq. US intelligence has recorded their serial numbers to identify their source. DEBKAfile’s military sources add: Because he cannot afford to buy advanced fighter planes and tanks, Assad purchased massive quantities of the “third generation” Kornet AT-14 anti-tank weapons.

Just in case any are found in Iraq, General Casey, commander of US forces in Iraq has already received orders from the commander-in-chief in the White House to pursue military action inside Syria according to his best military judgment.

Number 9 therefore incorporates a tangible threat. The American general has the authority to launch military action against Syria as he sees fit and without delay if Damascus continues to meddle in Iraq’s affairs.

1. They'll be bombing Cambodia any day now, if they haven't started already
But debka.com is a terribly uncredible news source. Many have alleged they are a front for one intelligence organization or another, who knows. It's a fact that their stories read as if they are, whatever the truth of the matter.

I don't know if the White House has given that sort of authority to a commander on the ground. Given the centralized nature of everything else they do, I'd be a bit surprised they would not want to be in the loop on invading another country. It might happen at an inconvenient time for them, and they hate surprises.

links to mosaad (unsure of correct spelling) the Israeli Intelligence unit said to be the best in the world.

3. If true...
...that means debka doesn't tell how things are. They would be telling how Mossad WANTS you to think things are.

As I said above, I have no idea whether the editors of debka.com are fed by intelligence organizations or not. But it sure reads as if it is. Full of agitprop that seems to feed a political agenda.

I guess they never did catch all those Chinese troops collaborating with the Taliban, eh? (just one of the many silly bits from debka since 9/11). How about the nuke bin Laden supposedly has hidden in New York? Anything more on that?

8. Yeah and their stories that Iraq WMD was shipped to
Syria and Lebanon. Debka even claimed to know the exact location within the "heavily fortified" Beka valley where WMD was buried. They throw around all sorts of crap to justify further US and Israeli actions.

4. Debka is one of these pro-Israeli, pro-American
so-called "news" groups like newsmax. They pushed the idea of Iraq's WMD being moved to Syria and even Lebanon ever since the invasion. Having said that, they do have some interesting info now and then.

in fact jeopardize Israeli security via Hezbolah, and therefore incite more violence. Or do you think this is in preparation to justify an attack from the Israeli side, either retaliatory or pre-emptively?

7. I think Israel and America are always looking for ways
to attack these countries using one pretext or another. If Hezbollah retaliates, that will just provide more "justification" to attack again.
