Does anyone else REFUSE to watch * on TV?
Ever since the election, I have absolutely REFUSED to watch the Smirk on TV. Whenever that simian mug comes on the screen I snap off the TV or quickly hit the channel. When I am at a friend's house and the news comes on I literally pitch a fit if that fucking idiot comes on and demand that they change the channel. I mean I pitch a real fit, like I am a deranged freeper. My friends think I am strange but I don't care. I completely lose my cool and I absolutely cannot STAND the sight or sound of that thug. I honestly fear what may happen someday when I am at the airport or some other place where it is impossible to avoid the bastard or socially impossible to pitch a fit and demand the channels be changed. Is this just me, or are there any kindred spirits out there?

2. absolutely. I can barely stand it when he is quoted on the radio
Fortunately for me most of the people I might watch TV with feel the same way, so I don't have to have a fit.

My husband turned off the car radio when the news bleep of the inaugural address came on

3. I haven't watched TV news since 11/2
and the free ride that sack of shit has gotten from the press is the reason. Jon Stewart is right, they're HURTING us.

When I'm in a public place and that little bastard's ugly mug is on a screen, I manage to make some nasty remark as I turn away.

Most people mumble "Yeah, you got that right," and join me in turning their backs, but I live in a pretty lefty area.

4. I Haven't watched tv news (national news) ....
including cable and the networks since 9/11. I haven't watched the maximum leader on tv since his original selection in December of 2000.

I LOATHE the right wing press. As far as I'm concerned ANY national news program is slanted toward the neo-nazis.

Am I bitter? You bet. Have I utterly given up on this country? Absolutely. I see no silver lining. None. Nada.

I get physically sick if I hear him speaking. I am really starting to think he is the anti-Christ. I am not a bible person... but I know that it says somewhere in there that the anti-Christ will mislead many and that if the days weren't cut short even the elite would be mislead. Arrggg he is disgusting.

16. Even some churchmen feel he is the anti-Christ
since the "anti-Christ" is supposed to preach a message that is opposite - thus anti - to that of Christ. To this bunch, Jesus Christ would be a traitor because he would have advocated peace over war. They would eviscerate Jesus for being what he truly was - the first Liberal. You can't get more anti-Christ than that.

54. totally agree
Christ came to preach the good news to the poor. Sell all you have and follow me, he said.

If Christ returned today, Bush and co. would have him crucified, I have no doubt about that.

But Jesus would still say, forgive them for they know not what they do.

remote... I consider the day a disaster... a total disappointment....

A huge failure... a mortification, a shock and an awe,

he is a visual migraine, a finger banged with a hammer, an ill tempered dog, a leaky toilet, a noisy ceiling fan, a rattling muffler, a mad prophet, a loose screw, someone to be avoided, a curious noise, a sham leader, an enabler of corporate fraud, a creator of illegitimate war, a carnival worker, a shell game operator, a blackjack dealer, a used car salesman....

I keep the remote quite handy in case you haven't derived this fact from my prose.

32. was it Roger Ebert who remarked, "That's 90 minutes of my life ..."
Edited on Mon Jan-31-05 08:31 PM by Lisa
"... I'm not getting back", after viewing a particularly bad movie?

This is how I feel about Mr. Bush. I could have a much more pleasant and productive time if I read a book, re-pot tomato seedlings, do laundry ... Heck -- if I clean the bathroom, that would be disagreeable but at least I'm accomplishing something. But to subject myself to what is probably going to be an even WORSE gloat-fest than usual? To paraphrase Dubya's mom, why should I waste my "beautiful mind" on that.

I don't think you're alone, Gary. Several of my friends -- all calm, intelligent, thoughtful people -- describe that the sight of Bush's face or the sound of his voice can cause them to "lose it". It's a magnitude beyond the visceral dislike that others have had for Nixon, for example. If I were a psychology grad student, I'd be doing my dissertation on this phenomenon.

p.s. I live in Canada, and one of the newspapers up here featured a half-page enlarged photo of Bush's face on page 5 or 6 -- when I turned the page and unexpectedly saw it, a couple times life-size with every scab, wrinkle, pore, blood vessel in his eyeballs, and whisker he'd missed while shaving -- I jammed the whole paper into the recycling bin. I doubt even his own wife has to see that kind of detail! Luckily it wasn't in color.

Now, I'm not so extreme or so stupid that I would vent my rage personally to his face. I would avoid any place he is out of sheer disgust. But it's just absolutely amazing to me that so many people have this visceral reaction to just his televised image.

What's even worse than seeing his stupid-assed face and hearing his sub-retarded monologues is driving around and seeing DUBYA stickers on almost every fucking vehicle I encounter in a parking lot or on a highway.

Oh my GOD, violence isn't the answer to anything, but Jesus Christ, every time I see one of those dark blue swastikas or those over-serious BUSH/CHENEY 04 banners (as if to say "Yes indeedy, Umurka, I'm a stupid ass and I AM not sorrah!") . .. I feel like taking a 2x4, bashing all of their fucking windows, tail lights and headlights in, pouring gasoline on the exterior, lighting that motherfucker and watching it burn with utter glee.

Hey, since I don't have any Asian nukes handy or can't offshore their job to Malaysia, might as well give the retard-gelical values voter a glimpse at their future with that Texas Train Wreck and his merry band of Voevods at the helm.

We can read transcripts and articles, as well as watch the rest of the news, if we like (I get my news online and from print media, but there are some choices on television).

55. There is POWER in this hatred!!!!
It seems to me there is a kind of unrefined political POWER in this revulsion toward the Smirk's image. I have posted to this board many times, but never, never, never have I gotten this many responses and stayed so high in the lineup for so long. There is something unifying, even clarifying about this hatred - a common ground for political action.

What about this idea - if the image riles us so, let's deprive America of it. Let's not destroy property, but let's do what we can to prevent the image of Bush from being seen. If you pass a magazine rack with his fucking grinning souless eyes bulging out from the covers, turn the magazines around, move them to the back of another rack - just GET RID the image.

If you see his face on a communal newspaper at work, take the page that it's on. Cut out the image. If you are lucky enough to control the TV at work, exercise your right whenever the news comes on. Replace his picture with Mr. Ed's - or Mr. Ed's ass. Afraid of complaints? the Freepers won't know the difference.

There's power in hatred, but too often it is misdirected to bad ends. Here's a chance to put our hatred to a good use and dilute the omnipresent image that the thugs occupying the White House and their willing media allies are trying to shove down our throat.

56. Bush's image on the tube is an "auto-click" . . .
if I'm channel surfing and happen to stumble upon Bush, my index finger automatically clicks to the next channel . . . it's an involuntary response, comparable to Pavlov's dogs . . . nothing I planned, and nothing I can control . . . it just happens . . .

much the same thing happens when I stumble upon images of Howard Stern, Gilbert Gottfried, Dennis Miller, Joe Lieberman, Jessica Simpson, and oh so many others . . . I think I've discovered a new medical condition . . . "anti-asshole auto-clicking syndrome" . . .

60. I'm not planning to watch the SOTU this week
What's the point? The man is lying whenever he moves his lips.

I can read about what he said on the BBC the next morning.

61. I cannot stand to look at his stupid, smirking, lying chimp face!
Everything that the man says is a lie. I don't need to sit there and watch a man insult my intelligence for an hour or so.

I also have not watched tv news or any of the other bullshit "news shows" since the election. I just cannot bring myself to watch them.

When Bush is on, I literally grab the remote to find ANYTHING else to wash out the poisonous sound and sight of him.

65. I haven't watched ANY news program since Nov. 2
It makes me healthier. I get my news on the internet and I start my day reading LBN right here on DU.

On ignorgauration day, I was driving to get a sandwich for lunch. I had my window down. I heard ITS voice on the radio from someone else's car. UP went my window, on went my radio to a non-commercial sattelite radio classic rock station and I turned it up LOUD.

Just hearing ITS voice sends shivers of horror through my body.

68. Let me put it this way:
I can't even stand to see this: * any more because of what it represents. Having said that, thanks people for making me feel like I'm not alone. I've hated the man since he first came to my attention before 2000. I looked into his beady little eyes and said to myself, "The man is evil." I hate the way he speaks, the tone of his voice, his monkeylike face, his puny-man strut, EVERYTHING. Everything.

73. Yep!
Can't stand to look at his smirking, lying face, can't stand to hear his voice, can't stand to hear anyone refer to him as president. The chimp's appearances on my tv are rare and usually prompt a few expletives and a quick channel change.

74. I'm a good-natured, polite, mild-mannered, middle aged woman.
But if I can't get to the "clickah" (Boston-talk) fast enough to turn off that slimeball, you would see the air turn blue with curses, and my middle finger shaking violently at the TV.

I recently finished reading "* on the Couch" Ñ a long-distance psychoanalysis of the Turd-In-Chief.

Now, I'm not a big fan of shrinks, and this author's guessing at Smirk's childhood neuroses was off-putting Ñ but his analysis of the ADULT Smirk was right on the money.

The one chapter that impressed me the most was the one where the author identified Smirk as a sadist.

nor will they be heard.

I've already cancelled all of my Cable TV (and Internet at home) and only watch PBS news once in a while.

I say, "God, I hate him" or "SOB" or some other such verbiage just happens. It's like a compelling reflex I can't control. Tourette's ala Bush.

Then I grab the remote.
