so do we have a list of what is wrong with those wacki iraqi elections?
here's some of the things that I have seen. Do we have proof of these?

1) US voters had to travel to one of five stations in the US. They should have been able to cast a mail in vote or cast at their local elections.

2) Though it is reported that up to 70% voted, we know that is purposely misleading. At best we have 70% of the 10 % that were registered which is 7% of the country. Do we know that only 10% were registered?

3) The registered voters were actually the people who were on the list for food? Does this mean that they were registered like it or not?

4) These same people were given their food if they voted only? Is that correct or no?

5) The ballots listed over 4000 candidates by number only, so no one really knew who they were voting for? True or no?

6) People were instructed who to vote for and did so accordingly.

7) Though lauded as a remarkable day, over 175 attacks were recorded.

8) Obviously if one whole group of people (sunni, shites, kerds) did not vote at all, no lasting solution can be found. All three major groups must be represented in any new gov.

ok, please include links if you have them to prove or disprove these statements and add your own to the list.

2. We don't actually know what % registered
there has never been a census in Iraq, so they have no idea how many people are eligible to vote. Any figures as to % of total people that voted are only guesses at this point.

4. Two more stories on the vote from the ICH Newsletter
Iraq: Who voted and who didn't and why :

The real numbers of this election are difficult to obtain as international monitors were not allowed to observe the proceedings for "security reasons." Even if we use the highly unreliable figures distributed by the Iraqi government and sources close to the US embassy in Baghdad, the results seemed to indicate a mixed bag, no matter what the different parties are trying to spin:

Triumph and tragedy for Iraq

Robert Fisk

No one I met yesterday believes the insurgency will end - many thought it would grow more ferocious - and the Shi'ites in the polling stations said with one voice that they were also voting to rid Iraq of the Americans, not to legitimise their presence.
