Watching TV news today--it is all about the glory of Bush one way
or another. Bush bringing freedom and democracy to the ME. I keep flipping the stations and it comes up over and over. and over and again and again. It is all about Bush. I have not heard any real "jouranlism" at all.

1. The media knows how to supress information about a vote.
We found that out, huh!

3. yes we did. I do not know what I expected with the media-guess I really
did not think about it. But have to say-I am surprized that it is covered almost 24/7 and on and on. It is really really slanted to the Right-no matter how you look at it. Does that surprize me? no, not really--just feeling rather down about it all.

Freedom from Reality: Robert Parry

<In that sense, George W. Bush’s second Inaugural Address on Jan. 20 stood out as a defining moment. Bush wrapped a grim record of presidential abuses – an unprovoked invasion, extraordinary secrecy, tolerance of torture and indefinite imprisonments without trial – in the noble cloak of “freedom” and “liberty,” words he uttered 27 and 15 times respectively, as if words can amend truth...<snip>

<The Washington Post’s David S. Broder, known as the “dean” of the national press corps, wrote a glowing tribute to Bush’s “eloquent” speech, which Broder cited as proof that Bush was holding steadfast to his goal of achieving “the worldwide realization of the ideals of freedom and democracy.” <snip>

Another Post columnist E.J. Dionne Jr. chimed in that “every American will cheer the president’s repeated reference to the U.S. obligation to hold high the torch of freedom.” Dionne, a supposed liberal, gushed further, “I love what the president said about our obligation to dissidents around the world.”<snip>

<The evidence is overwhelming that the Bush family’s record is almost never one of standing tall for human rights and in defense of democratic freedoms in other countries. Rather, the family has a long history of coddling autocrats and dictators, even those who have engaged in political murders, torture and international terrorism.<snip>

6. E.J. Dionne --
Usually an excellent columnist, but a polyanna if there ever was one.

Still, it's good to have someone from "our side" holding out the proverbial olive branch. That way, when they get cut down, there's no moral high ground they can retreat to. And we've got a veritable olive grove in the Press.

5. And you won't. The question is, can people be made to see this bias?
The corporate media are quite simply administration propaganda conduits. It's a vital part of the fascist state plan. It's the new opiate of the masses in an Orwellian sense.

How can people best be made aware of this and how can they be shifted away from dependence on these corrupted sources?

9. “freedom” and “liberty,”
To Shrub and his Junta these words mean the freedom to over throw any country that doesn't bow to them and the liberty to take over their countries.
