RNC seeks donations to get Bush message past `liberal media filter'
sorry if it was already posted

SHARON THEIMER, Associated Press Writer

Wednesday, January 26, 2005

(01-26) 10:41 PST WASHINGTON (AP) --

The Republican Party is following up record fund raising for President Bush's re-election effort by asking donors to finance its efforts to get Bush's message "past the liberal media filter" to the public.

Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman sent a fund-raising e-mail Wednesday telling supporters donations are needed to help Bush advance his second-term agenda.

Mehlman's fund-raising pitch came as Bush barred Cabinet secretaries from hiring columnists to promote administration policies. Bush's order came after disclosure that the Health and Human Services Department and Education Department each used taxpayer money to hire columnists to promote agency programs.

Bush said there "needs to be a nice independent relationship between the White House and the press, the administration and the press."

But, I'm not feeling meek anytime soon over it!

2. This has got to be a joke, right?
They really can't be serious about getting past the so-called "liberal media filter" when they've got nothing but a bunch of media whores being paid by them to do their political pleasure, if you will. Maybe we should call Bush "Pimp Daddy."

4. That's what I was thinking, because
they've never asked for funds for that reason before. Must mean they didn't need any money to get their message out there. Ergo, the roots of this go even deeper.

5. it's expensive buying those pundits
I guess it won't be unethical anymore if they use party money instead of taxpayer funds.

7. please send us money
so we can destroy social security (think of the old people who will turn to Jesus), prosecute women for murder who make the wrong reproductive choice, obliterate the labor unions and screw the environment, so the rapture will be hastened. Not to mention that constitutional amendment we promised you. Actually, all we will really do is destroy social security and the labor unions, but keep sending us money anyway, wink wink.
