1 vote against Ohio electoral votes; 13 against Condi Rice?
Is this a trend? Meaning, will our Senate Dems continue to be more and more vocal against Bush's policies, or is this just another case of misplaced priorities? We wouldn't even be having the Rice discussion were it not for the Dems staying silent in 2000 and then again in 2004. Is this just a fluke or are the Democrats growing a backbone?

All 8 Dems on the Judiciary Committee just voted against Gonzales. I can't wait to see the full vote. I'll bet virtually all Dems vote against him, even many who voted for Condi.

2. It's probably perceived as a "safer" vote
A lot of people are genuinely uninformed about how obvious the voter fraud issues are. I think that a lot of Democrats worry that they would be labeled extremists if they voted against accepting the election results.

Rice's lies, however, are a matter of public record. It is easier to put to accepted information as a reason not to vote for her.

Personally, I think it is a disgrace that ANY Democrat is voting to approve Rice. She is unqualified and has a terrible record in her current position.

I also think it is a disgrace that the Democratic Party didn't do something about the voting irregularities.

5. Exactly. And it proves one thing.
That they are there not to do the right thing and work for a better America. They are there for themselves, reveling in their political power and not wanting to lose it.

If a person really went to D.C. to try to make things better, they wouldn't be worried about re-election.

I'm sick of them. :puke:

3. Mark Dayton personifies this. He was nearly rabid in his decision...
...not to reject the Ohio electors. And, then, he was on fire in his excoriation of Rice.

But, until our Dems in Congress prove that holding Bushista feet to the fire is a trend, I'm calling it a fluke.

4. We need to keep expressing our support
I suspect their backbone has more to do with emails than vertebrae.

Emails of support to all the nay voters, emails of (respectful but firm) disappointment to the enablers.

6. imo it's just more justified
I had to do a lot of work to make myself see the contest of the election as doing any good. I actually think the most good it did is that it took some steam out of some phony voting activists (not all are phony, by any means, just some) who would have loved to kick the dems around if they hadn't contested it, and for whom the dems' contesting it was a definite disappointment.

The Rice vote, on the other hand, is obviously justified, less rationalizing needed.
