3. I have nothing against Clark
I feel that only Dean created excitement during the primary (am I wrong? I would have preferred Kucinich, but he never got off the ground. Edwards and Clark were nice and all, but boring) and that Gore is the only Dem with a chance in 2008.

20. IMO, Clark was not boring at all....
and in fact, had lots of important things to say in his campaign. I think the manner in which he called Bush out on just about everything everytime one looked around did a lot for the primary and the general election in setting a tone that truly allowd true criticism of George Bush and his agenda to be allowed as part of the debate....among other things.

In addition, Clark is the one that got the networks to start describing the Bush Cabal as Neocons and using PNAC to describe the real group behind the throne.

Clark had the 2nd biggest grassroots out of all primary candidates...based on internet website, campaign fundraising and meet-up figures. He excited quite a few more than he has been given credit for.

Anyone who would say that Clark was "boring" either has never really listened to what he had to say....or required a headstand to be performed by the candidate to be performed while campaigning.

Some supporters of other candidates never paid attention to Clark because they were busy supporting other candidates....and that's ok. However, such individuals are better off stating that as opposed to making such a judgement.

I rest my case until otherwise required.

When he turned his primary email list over to the Kerry campaign, that's what I heard.

32. Is that what you heard?
I'm sure Edwards picked up a lot of the left overs once it started to look like the Dems were going to run an anti war hero liberal senator from Massachusetts.
supporters of dean, Gerhardt, graham, and Clark all probably tried to derail Kerry by backing Edwards, and joining his email list.

40. Don't know why, only that Dean was 1, Edwards 2
Edwards left the race the first week of March (Kucinich was still in) so I don't know how much time he had to pick up stragglers. You can spin it however you want.

53. After Dean fizzled, Edwards became the only non Kerry game in town
Sure Sharpton and Kucinich were still in it. But a Clark, Gephardt, Leiberman, or Dean supporter was not going to back another candidate that doesn't have a chance of getting the nomination.

If you wanted anyone but Kerry, Edwards was the only game in town.

7. Gore will have to shed all those DLC lobbyists turned
campaign advisers that gave him such rotten advice in 2000. Coincidentally, they gave Kerry rotten advice in 2004. They will still be around to give whoever runs in 2008 the same rotten advice unless the party manages to deal with the whole DLC problem NOW.

Gore and Kerry were both able candidates. Both had their campaigns torpedoed by handlers who tried to repackage them as Repuglicans but without spines and without even illusory tax cuts for working people.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over aggain and expecting a different result. It won't matter who runs in 2008 unless we manage to persuade the party to dump all those old maids in pants that have been ruining campaigns for national office for decades.

29. Because Dean is a verifialbe Democrat for one, and two
he has extensive experience in the civilian political sphere. Gore doesn't neet Wes' military experience. Gore has better foreign policy credentials than Wes, the consultant for lobbyists for the military industrial complex.

I could also go with Gore-Boxer in 2008, but not Gore-Wes or Anybody-Wes or Wes-Anybody.

37. Well, I was not happy with Gore in 2000
and I ended up voting for Nader. Knowing what I know now, I feel bad about that vote, although it made no difference in my state. I had alot of issues with Gore and the way he was running, but the deal breaker for me was the position he took in support of the politically motivated kidnappings of small children, when the kidnappers in question were small, but vocal and influential minorities, whose vote he wanted. I just couldn't stomach that kind of pandering, or the willingness to abandon the most fundamental of principles that it revealed. I don't believe that I could support Gore for a second run.

just in case Dean is serious enough about being DNC Chair to want to stay his full term instead of bailing out of leading the Democratic Party during an election year to fulfill his personal political ambitions.

Boy, Gore sure would disagree with alot of people at DU about Clark's "remarkable"accomplishments.

U.S. MILITARY ACADEMY COMMENCEMENT, WEST POINT
Saturday, May 27, 2000

General Christman; Secretary Caldera; Senator Reed; Representative Gilman; Representative Norwood; faculty and staff; family and friends - I am honored to address the United States Military Academy's first graduating class of a new century.

I am also honored to share this stage with General Wes Clark, who graduated first in the Class of 1966, and who was at the center of so many key events of the past decade. As commander of the National Training Center, he helped train the armored force that prevailed in Desert Storm. As a member of the Joint Staff, he helped negotiate an end to the brutal war in Bosnia.

And as Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, he mounted one of the most remarkable military campaigns in history - the air war that forced Milosevic to abandon his repression in Kosovo. On behalf of the nation, General Clark, let me thank you.

45. Why do you say that?
He chose to serve as Clinton's VP for eight years. This bastion of progressivism also chose Joe Lieberman as his running mate in 2000.

And the continual quoting of laudatory language, out of context, is a trick that has mostly been used against other candidates on this board. In this case at least, these quotes were not taken out of context.

Nothin personal, minds'ya;...but if either of those 2 ever yell again, I might as well shoot the canon through me'ship and sink her me'self.

---------------

I stood by Gore, and he won in 2000, imo;... but he failed against the voters in FL and the black caucus who challenged the electors. I don't expect they'll forget that.

But you raise a very intriguing pt, Deans' course stays fixed, and he sticks to his agenda once committed; and Gore may just see it on the horizon. Their egos often run too high imo. It'snto a time to compromise pwer for ideals,.. the Gore camp, the Clinton camp, the Kerry/Kennedy camp, whoever, but all may be blinded from the Democratic camp who try to mesh their ideals together in order to remove the neocons hold on government.
