After the State of the Union Address, is anyone more committed than before
Edited on Tue Jan-20-04 10:12 PM by jchild
to removing that fraud from the White House?

Bush either has already or plans to roll back every advancement made since the FDR administration. He has destroyed or plans to destroy the education system, health care system, retirement system, civil justice system, women's right to choose, affirmative action,--god the list is so long. Feel free to add more. And, on edit, let me add completely merging church and state.

I am not going to go House Committee of UnAmerican Activities on you and ask you to answer the following question: "Will you now and have you always voted Democratic?" I don't want to ask you to do something as frivolous as take an oath.

But I will ask this: Are you now committed to removing that fraud from the White House by supporting in every way you can whichever Democrat emerges as our nominee?

If you aren't and say you won't vote but for one candidate, and if that one doesn't get the nom, you won't vote at all, then please tell me why you wish to keep Bush in office four more years.

I have not been bashful in expressing my dislikes for a couple of candidates, but let me say now, that we have to keep our eyes on the prize--Bush out of office.

Edited: grammar

3. I have always been whole-heartedly committed to removing the idiot
pretender to the presidency. Just because he has free television time to spout the same crap we always hear from the jackass doesn't make any difference to me or dwindle my resolve in the least. The SOTU crap he's spouting now is just a part of his re-election, oops, excuse me, his election campaign.

4. THere isn't
enough alcohol in my house to numb me enough to make it palatible to watch this speech.

It's on, I can sort of hear it in the background and I can hear my husband swearing and fuming. Don't want to go there.

Oops, it's quiet now. I think he turned off the TV in disgust.

10. I loved it!
We listened to the state of the union address, and we thought it was GREAT!

Of course, we listened to leftie Mike Malloy chirping in through the whole thing...

Trust me, Bush via Malloy was a joy to behold!

6. I have never seen such a naked disregard for the interests os all
Americans. This is the most disgusting politicization of our SOTU address I have ever seen.

But I am so happy that he will have to run on these statements. We will crush these goons in November.

7. Forget what I said last night and today...
I'll fucking vote for Kerry, or whomever opposes this lying sack of shit! I'm surprised Malloy didn't explode. Even with his comments, I had to bail. What an insult! It's galling to have to listen to this speech knowing it is a mockery of every truth ever told in the universe since the beginning of time.

13. Yes, galling it is.
And ballsy, isn't it? He knows the fight he faces at the polls in November. Yet he offers NO concessions to Democrats--he took us even further right with advocating "faith-based initiatives."

Christ on crutches we have to get rid of this guy. We HAVE to.

Thanks for your post. :hi:

19. Do you realize that with the faith based initiatives he gets to determine
what the government recognizes as a legitimate faith? Government gets to determine what a "legitimate" family and faith is, what next?

22. How about people who need government assistance for child care, and
have to have their children brainwashed so they can go to work. More and more nightmare scenarios come to mind. Ugh, makes me sick just thinking about it. But it is good to think about, it reminds me who the real enemy is.

24. Yes. I had not thought about that...
that your only outlet for childcare may be a church nursery where the kids are forced to sing "Jesus Loves Me" if they stay there.

What about shelters for battered women? Women being told that divorce is against god's plan and that they really should try to keep the sanctity of their marriage by "working it out" with their husbands.

Or what about drug treatment homes where addicts are told to pray and their illness will go away?

Sickening.

12. Good, Walt...
please reconsider. I am not being hyperbolic: Our nation stands at the greatest chasm at which it has ever stood. If we have four more years of this, I swear, we will never be able to recover and won't emerge on the other side resembling anything that we were prior to 2001.

I hope you reconsider. Every vote will matter. Yours and mine. :-)

18. If we get another 4 years of Bush, much of the damage will be permanent
Once the babyboomers start to retire in large numbers, that will take up so much of the countries time, money, and resources that you can forget ANYTHING progressive. The miserable status quo that will be created- and believe me there is none right now, it's shifting faster than we realize- will be a fixture for at lest 20+ years.

Just think, four more years of Bush and another 30 to 40 before we get a chance to do something about it.

20. Yes. It is terrifying.
He is shiftiing money for social services into defense and also into tax cuts.

The people who enthusiastically support him today will find themselves with privatized health care and no social safety net when they retire. Hope they are prepared for that.

27. Two things missing from the speech
1) The energy bill. He gave one sentence to getting ourselves off of foreign oil.

2) The trip to Mars via the moon.

These two issues are missing from his speech. I wonder why?

37. Here something else the Mr. Bush Jr. did not mention
http://www.tompaine.com/feature2.cfm/ID/9804

The environment was not mention by Mr. Bush Jr. or Mr. Tom Daschle. The Clear Skies Act (Cough) was not mention in any shape or form.
I cannot take credit for this one.
