Wes Clark won the Ed Schultz Poll with 41% of the vote

This should get some people talking about Clark again hopefully (not holding my breath) as for some reason everyone in the media wrote Clark off after the election. They only mention Hillary, Edward's and a few other people but Clark usually gets mentioned last if at all. When you look at the excitement for Clark here on DU this always leaves me scratching my head.

Any Clark people should tune in today and see if Ed mentions the poll. It should be interesting.

Don't you love Ed! Talk about a great PR guy for the Democratic Party! He is just what we needed because you just cant help but like him. Even my Republican friends who have listened to him like him.

1. Clark scares the pukes
Pukes run the networks.

Hence,

Hillary in '08.

2. I don't think Hillary can get nominated.
She looks and acts hard and cold. People don't vote for those qualities. That is why Condi also would not make a good candidate.

3. I'm more worried about them owning the voting machines
Has anyone ever wondered if Kerry was "selected" by Diebold, Triad, et al, too?

Clark was still was able to be a top-tier candidate with only four months experience in running for office and with a near-total media blackout (local papers carried his visits nicely, however). I still wonder if it was the media or the machines.

Just wondering (and not slamming Kerry).

4. No voting machines in Iowa
where Kerry made a real comeback and got a head of steam. I think Dems were just being cautious.

5. True, but Clark was very popular in my home state
Edited on Fri Jan-21-05 12:23 PM by Clark2008
and he came in third - after seeing absolutely no grassroots efforts on the parts of Kerry and Edwards, first and second, respectively.

And we have Triad machines throughout most of the state. However, in the bigger cities, we don't use Triad polling, and Clark came in first or second in all of these cities. I've often wondered about that.

As for Schultz's reasons - I dunno him. I can only guess that dean is running for DNC and kerry didn't finish his 2004 business (imo)

10. Good to see that 41% of the listeners
recognize the potential of a Wes Clark Presidency. How wonderful!

Ed is a powerful voice across the spectrum, and Wes Clark is a man for all seasons!

16. cheezy, Dean is ex-DLC while Gen. Clark was NEVER A REPUBLICAN
Edited on Fri Jan-21-05 07:42 PM by ClarkUSA
Dean wasn't included because he is running for DNC Chair and has pledged not to run for 2008 though it's obvious to me that some hope Gore runs in 2008 and will pick Dean as VP. Let's hope that Dean can keep his promise to stay neutral if Gore does enter the race in 2008. I don't want a DNC Chair that plays favorites which is why I wasn't crazy about Kerry wanting Vilsack to be DNC Chair.

13. Too bad the Dems
can't get behind someone who may have voted for Reagan the way the Repubs got behind someone who really was a democrat - Reagan.

By demanding lifelong and total loyalty to the party people like Clark, who have so much to contribute will be marginalized. I think that is a very narrow point of view.

14. The Repubs would get behind someone
Edited on Fri Jan-21-05 03:24 PM by Sparkly
who wasn't even born in this country, and married into a powerful Democratic family, because they believe he could win. And our party seems to have trouble with someone who was independent?!! I agree, it's a narrow point of view for a party that prides itself on broad-minded thinking.

21. He is an ex independent who voted both republican&democrat
He has been a sane, pragmatic voice in the wilderness.

When I watch him speak I feel reassured that here is a man who understands the problems we face and can lead the us to the solutions.

I voted for Clark in the primaries, I will vote for him again in a heartbeat.

November 7, 1972 Voted for Republican Richard M. Nixon for President

November 2, 1976 Voted for Republican Gerald Ford for President

November 4, 1980 Voted for Republican Ronald Reagan for President

November 6, 1984 Voted for Republican Ronald Reagan for President

November 1, 1988 Voted for Republican George H. W. Bush for President

May 11, 2001 Keynoted Republican fundraiser,
· Praised George W. Bush
· Praised a key Bush economic advisor

Now don't get me wrong....if Clark got the nod in 2008, I'd GLADLY vote for him. I'd vote for him whilst I will NEVER vote for Clinton, Kerry, or Edwards.

But, the "choises" in the poll are assinine.

27. So?
Edited on Sat Jan-22-05 12:06 AM by Sparkly
He was never a Republican. He's voted Democratic for how many years now, 15? He spoke at Democratic fundraisers. He campaigned tirelessly for Democratic candidates.

There are many people who would LIKE to vote for someone who's shown commitment to his country rather than a career commitment to either party; there are many who voted exactly as he did; there are many who admire his honesty, and there are others who use it against him.

Did you really think you were bringing up something new here? :eyes:

As I'd said before. I'd love to vote for either Boxer or Clark.

Boxer>Clark.

If there had been other choices, clark would never have gotten 41%

Strangely enough, at 18 years of age, I had more sense than to vote for GHWB.

26. I don't care if Clark was a
Repub. (which appears to not be true) He is one man brave enough to talk about PNAC on tv. The most important thing ultimately is to purge the traitors from power. We can debate the rest after the national security threat has passed (ie neocons out of office)

We need to stop eating our own. I have seen attacks on every dem I have ever heard of on this site. There will be plenty of time to fight amongst ourselves AFTER the treasonous bastards are gone.

28. great post
We need to get a majority of votes. You don't do that by tearing down your own and turn away folks who haven't always been perfect. Clark is a wonderful person. I hope he's president one day, but more importantly I hope a Dem is president four years from now. We won't accomplish that if we keep attacking each other.
