My cat participated
Just like my dog did in 1969 with Tricky Dickie - we put a Bible in front of the cat, put her left front paw on the Bible, and she was sworn in as President of the Kittie Cats. (The dog was inaugurated in 1969 as the President of Labradorean Expats in the US).

The cat was bored by the whole thing and went back to grooming herself.
