1. I'm not allowed to say what I hope for in this term.
At least not here.

6. WAIT a minute.
I posted this earlier today:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=1500309&mesg_id=1500309

...and at the time MSNBC was CLAIMING 60% of America "felt hopeful."

What happened to that 33% in the LAST THREE HOURS?

Oh, maybe MSNBC made a MISTAKE in the first story?

:grr:

9. Low expectations make ANY success a surprise
It is so bizarre, Chimp gets it both ways. He fails and we weren't expecting a good outcome but he's an honest, good, religious man. He has a modicum of success and it will be hailed as genius.

10. But wait, there's more!
Still 72 No / 28 Yes, but give it time, the powers to be will "patch in" and flip the result for ya (I think that's how they keep us all positive!).

11. Here's a question
and apparently a stupid one at that; if so many people are not hopeful about his second term, then how in the hell did this joker get elected? Yeah, I am aware of the possiblity of fraud, but a lot of people really did vote for this guy regardless, and now they claim to be unhopeful? C'mon, it just doesn't make sense.

Regarding the recent poll on this topic that made MSM headlines. Where in hell do they find these people they poll?

19. I'm thinking it may not be quite so bad as the first.
I'm sure I'll get flamed or called naive for not announcing the apocalypse, but it seems to me that Bush no longer has to worry about shoring up social conservatives, and so the whole gay marriage thing will flame out. There is also evidence that the Republican party is not so unified behind him as they once were, and that the Democratic party is going to be doing a better job standing up to him. I've also heard rumblings about troops coming out of Iraq (not sure if they're for real). Finally, he won't command the public discourse so much starting in 2007 since the next Presidential race will be beginning. And in general, second-term Presidents swing to the center and lose a lot of steam.
