Dean for DNC chair? – You bet
Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 01:42 PM by DancingBear
Dr. Dean, I didn’t support you in the primaries. I was a Wes Clark man then, and still am, to this day. But as I look around, I see a Democratic Party in tatters, torn asunder by those wanting to strip away its core values and morph it into Elephant Lite. Its leaders, too fearful to take meaningful stands, hide behind “we’re just like them, only not all the time” shields, while those of us who know better watch the country creep towards fascism under the stolen rule of a madman.

As I look back, I remember your words in the primary, prophetic now. I read your announcement today, and I found those same words again. It is a take- no-prisoners attitude that says what needs to be said and, more importantly, stands up and announces to everyone that the other side is wrong. Not different, not misguided – wrong. Wrong as our civil liberties vanish, wrong as Inauguration Day is by Invitation Only, wrong as lie after lie after lie spews forth from 1600.

It is time now to stop America from becoming our worst nightmare, and we need a leader to wake us up. As we (correctly) build from the bottom up, we need a voice at the top of our party who is not afraid to take a stand, and a face to stand toe to toe against the onslaught.

I think you’re the guy.

Give ‘em hell, Howie.

1. I'd rather see him wait and run in '08 but if he wants it - go get 'em!

2. I think he'd make a great DNC chair
I think we need someone with that kind of passion and energy; someone who connects with voters, especially younger voters; someone who knows how to organize, including using the internet; someone who isn't afraid to fight; and someone who could provide a visibility in leadership for the party. I think Dean is very persuasive, and it'd be great to see him in the media more often.

3. I sent an email to the DNC as follows:
I am a DNC contributor and lifelong Democrat and am writing to express my opinion about the Party's next chair. I strongly urge you to choose Howard Dean. I know a number of people who are on the verge of abandoning the Democratic Party after frustration with the Party's stance on a number of issues, including the Iraq war (which, I might add, never seems to be listed as an issue on the mail surveys I receive.) I think that Governor Dean would help keep those people in the Party. I am also extremely concerned that the leadership seems to be turning to anti-choice Democrats for positions of leadership (Harry Reid, Tim Roemer.) While reasons for choosing particular people as leaders should obviously extend beyond a single issue, I would be very uncomfortable if BOTH the Senate Democratic leader AND the Party chair were anti-choice. Moreover, Howard Dean is likeable, articulate, and a proven fundraiser. Please give his candidacy the consideration it deserves. Thank you for taking my comments.
