If we really need a candidate with a military background
Then we better hope that it is Clark instead of Kerry. Kerry was a Vietnam war protester. Do you think that Karl Rove isn't going to bring that up every chance he can get? That will guarantee to nullify Kerry's military service record with the voters that they are trying to appeal to. In addition, Kerry can legitimately be described as a Northeastern liberal. So we have a liberal war protester that we want to promote for his foreign policy experience? If we really are going to play the electability game, then I'd rather see Clark.

3. Given circumstances now- where Bush lied to get his war
I think Kerry's previous positions will be seen as assets.

4. I think Kerry threw his medals at the White house
during a protest in the 70's. Not sure if that can be used against him or not.

12. As opposed to the medals Bush won protecting our Southern border?
The actions of Kerry and VVAW were instrumental in stopping the madness. I can only imagine how many lives were saved here and in VietNam by their actions.

Sadly, if anyone in the Republican leadership had spent any time really fighting in that war, we probably wouldn't be shedding American blood in Iraq today. Truely the party of war profiteering Chickenhawks.

6. Here here!
Got no prob with the man... he called for open records, Clark gave him all he could give, and Kerry dropped it. That's politics mixed with some respect, y'all. Here's to a kinder, gentler battle.

7. A protester with three purple hearts...
At least he knew what he was protesting. That won't be an issue.

I'm not a huge fan of Kerry for other reasons, but his military record is pretty solid. Certainly more solid than *.

8. The fire fighters and veterans respect Kerry's service.
There is NO dishonor in protesting Vietnam when you've racked up a record of saving the lives of others on those front lines.

There is also matter of Kerry's prescient book on terror and its funding in his 1997 book, The New War. The book Bush never read.

The guy who WROTE the book in 1997 or the guy who didn't READ THE BOOK who is sitting in the Oval Office. The public will weigh in.

9. That's funny.
A bona fide war hero who was instrumental in changing the tide of public opinion on a war that claimed 50,000 Americans and millions of Vietnamese. He showed leadership and courage on both sides of that issue.

Just who is going to question his credentials? George "AWOL" Bush? Rush "Anal Cyst" Limbaugh? Tom "Bugsy" DeLay? Dick "Student Deferment" Cheney?

This is the least of Kerry's problems, IMHO. Republicans will not bring up anything about Kerry's military biography...trust me on this.

13. If a draft Dodger (or AWOL)
can become President, why not a War resister who is also a decorated VETERAN????
If Kerry gets the nomination I'd love to see Rove try to play that card. It will back fire big time.
