Wesley Clark is uniquely qualified to lead the nation
Edited on Tue Jan-20-04 06:19 AM by wyldwolf
TODAY, America faces two fundamental challenges at home and abroad: keeping our country safe in a dangerous world, and restoring fiscal responsibility and prosperity for the working families of our nation. We must choose a President with experience and depth both for the domestic economy and the international arena.

As secretary of the Navy from 1993 to 1998, I worked with all of the members of Congress who are currently running for President. While they are all fine leaders, I believe that Gen. Wesley Clark is uniquely qualified to revitalize our economy as well as to lead our nation back to its rightful role of world leadership in international affairs.

3. Not the paper's endorsement.
By JOHN DALTON
Guest Commentary

John H. Dalton served as secretary of the Navy from July 1993 to November 1998. He took a strong stand as secretary to prevent the BRAC commission from closing Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1995.

4. No One Said It Was the Paper's Endorsement

Just nice endorsement. Of course you can read that it is by Dalton.

I was thinking it is particularly nice coming out today because the paper has endorsed Lieberman.

5. this paper is to the right of Atilla the Hun they wouldnt endorse
Clark. They endorsed Pat Buchanan when he ran. The other day this paper was shunned by DUers when somebody posted an anti-Clark piece from it.

6. The Union Leader is the most RW-Repuke paper in the nation...
And they have already endorsed Joe Lieberman (natch!!).

Still, I would agree that the Union Leader and Clark deserve each other.

Oh yes indeed!

10. Who knows? But the paper's orientation is well known
And if you doubt this, just check them out online, on google, and in your local library.

Read the book, "Who the Hell is William Loeb?" for the background story.

11. I couldn't disagree more!
A career in the military does not qualify him to lead this nation. Having been in the military myself, I don't trust career officers. They rise through the ranks by fudging numbers. At each new position they occupy they must show that they have bettered the previous occupant. They do this, quite simply, by lying. The higher the rank the less in touch with reality they are.
Besides, I'm a REAL liberal. I would never vote for someone who's only qualification is skill at making war.

12. Generals don't "make" war
Politicians do.

Maybe it's time we gave a another general (remember Ike?) a chance to stop war. Those who have seen it actually know what its about.

Peace
