1. These people are too stupid to justify wasting oxygen
They have these rigid ivory tower ideologies -- fine for a chess game over at the Club Neocon maybe -- but none of them seems capable of changing their theories or behavior in the light of new data. Or even in accordance with well-known facts.

Take that mess hall. Please. It was/is owned and operated by civilian contractors. Everyone was always scheduled to eat there at once, which in terms of presenting an inviting target was kind of like having the entire Pacific Fleet docked at Pearl Harbor one December Sunday. And in fact it apparently had *already* been targeted more than once before.

But the civilian contractors in charge of feeding our troops were operating the mess hall according to their convenience and not according to what you might think military safety might require. Maybe no one told them. Maybe the commanders in charge had their respective heads up where the sun don't shine. Maybe everyone involved who had any responsibility for the outcome had so successfully compartmentalized their minds that no one even saw the whole picture.

Except some of the troops. One journalist who had spent time in Mosul reported that quite a few made a habit of getting through the chow lines asap and dashing outside with their meals so they could consume them in places with less target-appeal.

And now the American people are being gradually introduced to the notion that fighting terra and establishing democracy will probably take 20 years.

Cluster-fuck indeed.

2. My heart goes out to the troops enduring this shit. I have family there
too.

More and more Americans are looking at this whole thing as needless and nefarious.

America is being conned/scammed/fooled

but the victims are waking up to the smell of coffee, cordite, and coffins.

The Answer?? The Grassroots must speak up. They are not all Democrats but fooled Pubs who reject the Bushco poloicies too. Together, the Grassroots across America must take this bunch of weeds down before they spoil Americas Garden.
